What will you be doing?
Citizens Advice Runnymede & Spelthorne (CARS) provides valuable advice on issues such as housing, debt, benefits, employment and family. CARS is a local charity at the heart of our community. We are a team of around 50 employees and volunteers funded solely by grants and donations. Like most charities securing adequate funding is a real challenge at this point in time. So while there is unmet demand for our services, we are constrained by the level of funding we get. We are keen to raise money to expand our services and would welcome a trustee applicants with experience of Fundraising. As our fundraising expert on the Board you will:
Collaborate with Chief Executive and Project Manager on any questions relating to grant applications and bid work Lead the development of our funding strategy Advise on potential new income streams
As well as above Trustees at CARS are jointly responsible for:
Maintaining an awareness of how the charity is operating Approve operational strategies and policies Read board papers to actively participate in meeting discussions Ensure the keys risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively Use your unique skills and experience to help us meet our objectives Work in the best interest of our Charity
What are we looking for?
Skills that will help you As this is a new role, we are looking for someone who can use their own initiative and skill set to produce the organisation’s fundraising strategy. It would be great if you had some experience in the following:
Experience working in a fundraising or marketing environment or Experience in building relationships and working in partnership with a range of organisations or Experience in recognising opportunities and developing approaches to new funders/customers as well as continual fostering of these new relationships
It would also be good if you recognise in yourself some of the below:
You are comfortable expressing your own ideas but also happy to listen to the views of others You enjoy building relationships with others and understand the power of working together in a team You think creatively and are always searching for that better solution You’re committed and enjoy working as part of a team You are happy defining goals, setting targets, and reviewing performance for yourself and others. You are non-judgmental and respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own
