Role Summary:

  • Provide essential editorial and administrative support to a bustling publishing team.
  • Contribute to the production of 8-10 frontlist books, 4+ products, and over 100 reprints annually.
  • Engage in proofreading, coordination with freelance talent, permission acquisition for text and images, and distribution of complimentary contributor copies.
  • Handle various ad-hoc tasks to facilitate seamless publishing operations.

Role Requirements:

  • Perfect for entry-level candidates with proofreading qualifications or experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook is a must, InDesign knowledge is a plus.
  • A degree in Publishing, English, or a related field is preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.

The Organisation: We are a small independent publisher, nimble and able to pivot to new challenges as they present themselves. We are a diverse team of brilliant minds, focused on growth and personal development. We offer a hybrid working pattern, with 2 days per week in our office in WC2.

The Role: As an Editorial Assistant, you will provide editorial and administrative support to our busy publishing team, enabling the creation of 8-10 frontlist books, 4+ products and over 100 reprints a year. Your tasks will include proofreading, liaising with freelance editors and designers, clearing text and image permissions, organising delivery of contributor complimentary copies, and other ad-hoc support tasks as requested.

Job Requirements: This role would suit an entry-level candidate, ideally with a qualification or some experience in proofreading. You should have experience with MS Word, Excel and Outlook, and familiarity with InDesign would be an advantage. A degree in Publishing, English or other related subjects is desired. You should be organised and efficient, with the ability to work on multiple tasks at the same time.
