Role Summary:

  • Prepare, procure, and monitor procurement processes for space transportation projects.
  • Manage contract lifecycles from tendering to closure.
  • Handle financial and planning aspects of projects with various internal and external interfaces.
  • Support the Business Unit Controlling and Operating Planning Office within the Directorate of Space Transportation.

Role Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration or Engineering.
  • Experience as a controller at an agency or industry level is preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and tools such as esa-p, MS Excel, MS Project, and Power BI.
  • Experience with modern dashboard tools is beneficial.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively to meet objectives and deadlines.
  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

The role: As a Project Controller in the Ariane and P120C Project Control and BUC Support Service, Business Unit Controlling and Operating Planning Office, Directorate of Space Transportation (D/STS), you will hold key responsibilities in respect of the preparation, procurement and monitoring of procurements, from tendering to the closure of contracts, as well as management, financial and planning aspects, with multiple interfaces within and external to ESA.

Job requirements: A master's degree in Business Administration or Engineering is required for this post. Professional experience as a controller, preferably at Agency or industry level, would be an asset. Knowledge of computer systems and information, planning and coordination tools, for example using esa-p, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project and Power BI, are essential. Familiarity with modern dashboard tools will be considered an asset. You should be able to work autonomously, effectively and cooperatively. You should also be able to define and implement solutions in line with team and individual objectives and deadlines. You should possess strong written and oral communication skills and should be rigorous and disciplined when working on demanding tasks. In addition, you should have good analytical, organisational and reporting skills, with a proactive attitude to problem-solving.

Benefits: The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset. Applicants must be eligible to access technology and hardware which is subject to European and US export control regulations. The Agency may require applicants to undergo selection tests.

According to the ESA Convention, the recruitment of staff must take into account an adequate distribution of posts among nationals of the ESA Member States. When short-listing for an interview, priority will first be given to internal candidates and secondly to external candidates from under-represented Member States. In accordance with the European Space Agency’s security procedures and as part of the selection process, successful candidates will be required to undergo basic screening before appointment conducted by an external background screening service. In principle, recruitment will be within the advertised grade band (A2-A4). However, if the selected candidate has less than four years of relevant professional experience following the completion of the master’s degree, the position may be filled at A1 level.
