Role Summary

  • Provide expert technical advice and strategic guidance in certified potato seed production.
  • Maximise productivity, ensure excellent quality standards, build a sustainable team capacity and implement cost-efficient production systems.
  • Support the department's ambitions to scale up, adopt global best practices and ensure climate and disease resilience.

Role Requirements

  • Be an acknowledged international expert in potato seed production with a minimum of 10–15 years of leadership experience in large-scale certified seed production.
  • Possess strong skills in capacity building for diverse field teams, and demonstrate deep understanding of disease management, climate resilience, and varietal optimization.

The role: As a Consultant for Potato Seed Production, you will offer world-class technical expertise and strategic guidance in certified potato seed production. Your focus will be on maximizing productivity, ensuring the highest quality standards, building sustainable team capacity, and embedding cost-efficient production systems. This consultancy involves direct support for the department's scale-up ambitions, enabling rapid adoption of global best practices adapted to tropical and sub-tropical environments, and ensuring resilience to climatic and disease-related challenges.

Job requirements: The ideal candidate will be a recognized international expert in potato seed production with at least 10–15 years of leadership in large-scale certified seed production. You should have a strong track record in training, mentoring, and capacity building for diverse field teams, with a deep understanding of disease management, climate resilience, and varietal optimization.
