The British Museum Archaeological Research Collection (BM_ARC), a state-of-the-art facility near Reading, is looking for a Works Coordinator. This role is at the heart of a dynamic partnership between the British Museum and the University of Reading, aimed at fostering innovative research and enhancing public access to a treasure trove of historical artifacts. Role Summary:

  • Manage bookings, transport slots, and delivery coordination at the BM_ARC site.
  • Facilitate on-site work activities, liaising with various teams and organizing visits and deliveries.
  • Support Project Managers with Safety Audits and preparation of necessary reports.
  • Provide administrative assistance including documentation, meeting minutes, and email correspondence.
  • Carry out additional tasks as needed to support the Estates and Capital Projects department.

Role Requirements:

  • Understanding of health and safety procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize time-sensitive issues, particularly those related to safety and security.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-oriented approach.
  • Strong organizational skills with proficiency in managing electronic and manual filing systems.

This role is based at the BM_ARC in Shinfield, Reading, and is not eligible for flexible working arrangements. The Museum follows the HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard for pre-employment checks.

About the role: There is an exciting job opening at the British Museum ARC, just outside Reading, for the role of Works Coordinator, in the Estates and Capital Projects department. This role requires coordination between clients and multiple contracts and requires working with people from various backgrounds. If you are someone with keen communication skills and are interested in assisting with departmental objectives, we would love to hear from you.

Key areas of responsibility: Manage an accessible system for bookings, transport slots, and deliveries onsite, including loading points. Coordinate work activities onsite, liaise with various groups onsite and program visits and deliveries. Assist Project Managers with Safety Audits and submit regular reports as required. Providing administrative support, including meeting minutes, drafting documents, and emailing, among other tasks supporting the team. Other tasks as required.

About you: You will have a basic understanding of health and safety procedures. Able to respond in a timely fashion, prioritizing time sensitive matters, pertaining to safety and security. As a customer-oriented individual, you will have good communication and attention to detail skills. As an organized individual, you will be able to recognise and effectively discharge relevant information, in addition to managing electronic and manual filing systems.

Additional details: This is a site-based role at the BM_ARC facility in Shinfield, Reading. It is not suitable for flexible working. The Museum adheres to the HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) for pre-employment screening of Civil Servants.
