The British Museum, a treasure trove of human history and culture, is looking for a Project Coordinator to join their Collection Care - Collection Management team. This prestigious institution houses world-renowned artifacts such as the Rosetta Stone and Egyptian mummies, and it offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the preservation and sharing of human heritage.

Role Summary:

  • Deliver, monitor, and report on the Museum’s loans and exhibitions projects.
  • Focus on National Programmes loans, including touring exhibitions and partnership galleries.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, partner museum staff, and external stakeholders to facilitate access to the BM collection across the UK.

Role Requirements:

  • Demonstrable administrative experience in a museum/gallery or similar.
  • Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient IT skills and experience with project processes.
  • Excellent time management, organisational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in loans risk management, object handling, packing, and display.

The organisation - The British Museum Founded in 1753, the British Museum’s remarkable collection spans over two million years of human history and culture. The Museum is one of the leading visitor attractions and its world-famous collection includes the Rosetta Stone, the Parthenon sculptures, Egyptian mummies, the Admonitions Scroll, and the Amaravati sculptures.

The role - Project Coordinator: National Programmes Collection Care Joining the Collection Care: Collection Management section at the British Museum, you will deliver, monitor and report on the Museum’s loans and exhibitions projects with a primary focus on National Programmes loans, including the delivery of touring exhibitions, partnership galleries and Spotlight loans. In this diverse and stimulating role, you will work with colleagues across the Museum at all levels as well as partner museum staff and external stakeholders, in order to deliver projects that give access to the BM collection throughout the UK.

Job requirements With demonstrable administrative experience, in a museum/gallery or related organisation, the ideal candidate will be educated to degree level in a relevant subject or have equivalent experience and will possess proficient IT skills. Experience will include working with project processes, including budgeting and loans risk management. You will possess strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise effectively. Ability to synthesise and report on information orally and in writing Experience of working with a variety of UK museums Practical knowledge of loan couriering, object handling, packing and display. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
