  • Provide comprehensive legal support across Virgin Group entities, including Virgin Management, Virgin Red, and charitable arms like Virgin Unite and Virgin Start-Up.
  • Advise on a variety of corporate and commercial matters, such as partnerships, technology, marketing, consumer rights, and employment law.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure legal compliance and provide support on disputes, litigation, and data privacy.
  • Contribute to the adoption of technology and tools to enhance legal team efficiency.
  • A professional legal qualification is a must.
  • Experience in corporate and commercial law, either in-house or within a reputable law firm.
  • A growing knowledge of data protection laws.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop in new legal areas.
  • Strong multitasking skills to manage various projects and deadlines effectively.

We’re seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic Junior Legal Counsel, to provide legal support in relation to the Virgin Group businesses. In this role, you’ll be supporting the legal team on a broad range of matters for Virgin Management and Virgin Red, such as early-stage investment documents, including term sheets and confidentiality agreements, and commercial agreements, including partnership contracts and key supplier arrangements. In addition, you will provide legal support to Virgin Unite, our independent charitable entity, and Virgin Start Up, which supports founders in the UK grow their business.

Tell me more

  • Provide high quality, accurate and timely legal support in relation to the Virgin Group businesses, including Virgin Management, our loyalty business Virgin Red, Virgin Start Up and Virgin Unite.
  • Advise on a range of matters arising from business activities, including partnerships, technology, advertising and marketing, content creation and distribution, consumer rights, employment law and general commercial legal issues.  
  • Work cross-functionally with various teams across the organisation to ensure legal advice is sought when required and legal requirements are met. 
  • Work closely with Virgin Unite and their associated charities to support them in their grant arrangements, key partnerships, fundraising, advocacy and other activities. 
  • Support on disputes and litigation where required. 
  • Support on data privacy.
  • Support the implementation and use of technology and tools where appropriate to improve efficiency and support the wider team. 

What you’ll need

  • Strong corporate and commercial legal skills and understanding, as well as experience of international businesses.
  • A professional legal qualification.
  • Experience in-house within a commercial environment or commercial legal experience within a high quality law firm is desirable.
  • A developing knowledge of data protection law, and the ability to identify relevant data protection issues.
  • The self-assurance to communicate and successfully build relationships with people at all levels of the organisation.  
  • Proactivity, curiosity and enthusiasm for developing knowledge and skills in new areas, such as employment law and the law relating to charities and philanthropy. 
  • A high level of integrity and a sense of responsibility to help the legal team function as an integral part of the business’s growth and success.
  • The ability to successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
