Role Summary

  • Perform in-depth Derogatory Information Searches (DIS) to identify and evaluate risks associated with suppliers and partners.
  • Continuously enhance the Know Your Counterparty (KYC) processes and manage the KYC platform.
  • Engage in supplier onboarding, including KYC screenings and collaboration with various teams.
  • Prepare reports and maintain records to support due diligence and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide internal KYC procedure training and monitor industry regulatory changes.

Role Requirements

  • 5-7 years of risk and compliance experience, specifically in KYC.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Proficiency in KYC, AML, and related regulations.
  • Understanding of environmental issues and nature-based solutions is beneficial.
  • Exemplary organizational and communication skills.
  • High ethical standards and critical thinking abilities.
  • Experience with Airtable and RiskScreen is desirable.
  • Fluency in English, additional languages are a plus.

THE ROLE

Climate Impact Partners, a leading provider of high-quality carbon credit programmes, is looking for a Know Your Counterparty (KYC) Analyst to join our join our Legal and Compliance team on a fixed term contract to support with a quality improvement project. The quality and integrity of the climate projects we contribute to and the carbon credits we source and sell is at the heart of Climate Impact Partners’ role as trusted partner for our clients, project partners, and carbon credits suppliers.

This role plays a critical part in our proposition.  Reporting to the Due Diligence Manager, the role works with and across our supply teams, from a sourcing perspective (with Global Sourcing and Project Development) and a sale perspective (with Client Solutions), executing and continuing to evolve our consistent and rigorous processes for project Due Diligence (DD) and our risk assessment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Derogatory Information Searches (DIS)


  • Conduct in depth DIS to identify potential and actual high-level legal, technical commercial and/or reputational risks linked to our suppliers, project partners, clients and other counterparties and evaluate outcomes on an ongoing basis;
  • Conduct deeper analysis on areas of high risk with specific projects;
  • Identify and evaluate common high-level risk areas across the project portfolio, conducting analysis of supplier relationships in the market;
  • Summarise results for Due Diligence Manager and write reports where required for escalation to the Due Diligence Committee; 
  • Maintain a record of precedence of DIS results to maintain consistency, integrity and auditability of our approach.

Know Your Counterparty (KYC)


  • Enforce and support the continuous improvement of our KYC processes; 
  • Review and verify documentation for new customer, supplier, partners and other counterparty accounts and evaluate accounts in order to identify potential high-risk accounts via the KYC Platform;
  • Ongoing management of the KYC platform including monitoring the risk criteria applied and updating this as agreed by the DD Committee;
  • Analyse new customer, supplier, partner and other counterparties processes and policies providing recommendations for process improvement; 
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records, ensuring all KYC-related documents are properly filed and stored;
  • Prepare and submit reports to regulatory authorities as required, detailing the results of KYC activities;
  • Identify and report any potential suspicious activities or transactions that may pose a risk to the company;
  • Provide training and support to internal teams on KYC procedures;
  • Stay informed about changes in regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to KYC and AML;
  • Supplier onboarding: Manage client-side supplier onboarding requests, including KYC screenings requested from Climate Impact Partners, working closely with the Finance and Client Solutions teams.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR


  • 5-7 years of experience in risk and compliance, including experience in KYC;
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred;
  • Knowledge of KYC standards and related regulations;
  • Knowledge of AML, fraud, bribery, human rights, PEPs, sanctions, community displacement;
  • Knowledge or experience in environmental subject matter related to nature-based solutions, improved household technology and renewable energy solutions;
  • Good timekeeping, organisational and communication skills, able to synthesise complex and nuanced information and communicate a conclusion in a clear way;
  • Strong attention to detail and able to identify what is most important to address;
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and able to work at pace;
  • Sets high standards for ethical behaviour;
  • Critical thinking skills and able to recognise the potential risk of counterparties;
  • Team-player prepared to work with flexibility across office locations;
  • Continually looks for ways to improve the way we do things and take ownership for testing ideas and driving forward solutions;
  • Experience in Airtable and RiskScreen desirable;
  • English command required, additional language skills would be an asset.
