What will you be doing?

Leecliffe Big Local is a resident-led partnership based in Borehamwood. In 2010 the area was selected as one of 150 ‘Big Local ’ areas from around England to receive at least £1 million from the National Lottery Community Fund, to be spent between 2010 and 2026. LBL’s mission is to enable and deliver projects and activities to meet identified local needs. It does this by using evidence from consultations with local residents to identify their priorities and fund and deliver projects to address them. LBL provide activities to address loneliness and isolation, improve the health and wellbeing of families, children and young people, and improve the physical environment in the local area. LBL is entering the final stages of programme delivery and starting focus on its legacy. As part of this the organisation is keen to bring together data and evidence on its impact and learn lessons that can be shared with other local organisations. It is also considering undertaking new primary research with local residents to support the evaluation and to update understanding of perceptions of the local area and priority needs. We are looking for up to three volunteers to help design and deliver the research and evaluation programme, working alongside a professional expert in the field. We expect the research and evaluation to take place between spring 2024 and summer 2025. It would be ideal to have a consistent group of volunteers working on the project throughout that time, but it is also feasible for volunteers for shorter periods to deliver specific stages of the project (e.g. programme design; review and analysis of existing evidence). Main role:

Finalise the scope and design of the research and evaluation programme Review, analyse and synthesise existing evidence (e.g. past consultation evidence, output data, activity reports, financial data) Identify gaps in existing evidence and opportunities to fill them Scope, design and deliver primary research including upskilling local residents to support this Bring together all the evidence in to a final report and supporting materials (e.g. presentations, leaflets, posters)

What are we looking for?

Ideal candidates will have expertise and experience in social/market research and evaluation gained in a professional or academic setting. Strong IT and communication skills.

What difference will you make?

By volunteering to support delivery of the LBL research and evaluation programme, you will be helping ensure there is lasting change in the area beyond the conclusion of Leecliffe Big Local. The research and evaluation programme will play a pivotal role in being able to tell the story of Leecliffe Big Local, and ensure other local organisations can learn lessons about what’s important to local residents and what works to address priority issues and improve their lives.
