What will you be doing?

AHO has presence on social media using platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Linkedin. We are looking for Health Streaming Presenter to post videos regularly on YouTube and our social media platforms to keep the public educated and our followers and members engaged. Role description Help us engage our audiences by creating compelling live and non-live videos so that we can educate the public about health issues and help improve the health in Africa and the Diaspora. This is an exciting opportunity to help innovate the way AHO approaches its online, live delivery of health education.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To educate and make awareness to the public and stakeholders about health and social care and determinants of health by delivery of live interactive online teaching sessions using live streaming technology, as well as uploading health videos.Pedagogical Practice

Research and produce scripts about health topics to educate the public about health issues in Africa and the Diaspora. Produce health videos live and non-live and upload them on our social media channels like YouTube. Raise awareness of health and social care and determinants of health of AHO across the world and wider AHO.  

Innovation and Design

Create and design health scripts, storyboards, templates and prototypes that are used to visualise activities with live streaming. Produce videos using online programmes and topics on AHO website and adapt 3D elements, infographics, graphic design, and assets for use with the live streaming.

Technical Development

Manage copyright and a technical service on the use of innovative live streaming technologies. Ensure and anticipate and fix technical issues in an efficient and appropriate manner, reassuring users and taking ownership. Make suitable decisions to resolve issues and enquiries.

Research and Development

Keep track of new health and social developments and current practices in live streaming and online education. Research health topics use cases and advise and guide AHO management in developing and implementing new ideas.

What are we looking for?

Skills and qualifications We are looking for a volunteers who have the following:

Educated to a degree level in subjects such as medicine, public health, epidemiology, health related, global health, journalism, visual arts, photography, videography, media studies, international development, engineering, marketing, sociology, psychology, geography, etc or related courses. At least 3 years experience in video live streaming, public speaking, and be a health workers, doctors, MDs, GPs, radiologists, pathologists, psychologists, psychiatrist, sociologists, surgeons, anaesthetists, endocrinologists, cardiologists, clinical consultants, nephrologists, oncologists, gastroentorologists, ophthalmologists, opticians, nurses, registered nurses, midwives, social workers, health profession, etc and related professions. You don't have to be a medical doctor to present medical or health topics. You will be required to research and request medical professionals for confirmation of facts and information. Those with medicine or health related degree will be a bonus. Ability to speak slowly and clearly on camera. Don't worry about video editing. We will use AHO Video Editors and Graphic Designer to edit and design your videos. Understanding of YouTube and other video platforms live streaming.

The volunteer should also have/be

Accuracy and attention to detail especially health information and facts. Ability to quickly understand the needs of our organisation and users Can ask key questions to enable us to clarify requirements Understands the resource constraints of a small charity and is able to work with these. Open to feedback Digital technology and social media marketing

Your input will shape how we present ourselves to our service users, stakeholders, funders and general public. With your help we will be able to continue to deliver our services and how they help our end users. You would become part of our small, friendly team and you have the opportunity to use your time to make a real difference in difficult times. The volunteer can work entirely from home and we can consider remote candidates from across the UK and the globe.

What difference will you make?

The volunteer's impact on the organisation is increasing awareness of health issues affecting people and awareness of the charity through video education and social media marketing to enable it carry out its projects in Africa and the Diaspora. The organisation will be able to carry out its activities better with education videos and social media and marketing engagement with members, funders and stakeholders. This will increase the morale of the staff if they know that they have support from members to help them do their work. As for the impact on beneficiaries, this will be enormous. The public will be educated and health issues and diseases and what to do and how to prevent illness. Our beneficiaries are people in Africa and UK with health and social care issues. We will be able to understand the issues people face specially for vulnerable populations such as pregnant women and children. We will be able to improve health and well-being for people with myriad conditions such as diabetes, cancers, kidney failure, etc. Having a social media marketer enables us to showcase our work to members and better support people. We will be able to improve the welfare of the people in emergency situation. We will be able to engage users and will be coming back for more information and education of health and social care.
