What will you be doing?
As with many areas of the VCSE sector we are facing the challenges of increasing need for support with the ongoing changes in funding priorities. We are currently focusing on promoting the campaign #ChooseYouthWork, supporting emerging local youth partnerships, and facilitating youth voice social action. Whilst we continue to support youth work providers and practitioners locally, regionally, nationally. We are seeking enthusiastic people from the private, public or charitable sector who would like to join our present trustees to help guide and support our team. By contributing your time, skills and experience, you will help us create new opportunities to expand our work and offer an ever more effective service ensuring young people in Y & H have access to high quality youth work provision.
What are we looking for?
You will may experience in an area such as youth work, youth services, charity sector, statutory services, or business. In general we are looking for positive, enthusiastic and committed people who want to make a difference whilst being part of the team that enables an organisation to make that difference. Ideally you will be a team player who can focus on the detail whilst keeping in the bigger picture in view. Visualise and articulate ideas, support a small team to deliver and develop a regional service. However, you do not have to have experience as a Trustee as we can support you all the way.
What difference will you make?
Youth work is a distinct educational process adapted across a variety of settings to support a young person’s personal, social and educational development in order to:
Explore their values, beliefs, ideas and issues Enable them to develop their voice, influence and place in society Facilitate the learning of a set of practical or technical skills and competencies that enable them to realise their full potential.
As a member of our board of trustees you will be supporting and shaping our work, ensuring the youth sector is supported locally and regionally, and represented nationally making youth work accessible to the one million young people in Yorkshire and The Humber.
