What will you be doing?

Nourish is a well-respected food bank, which holds The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. We are a local charity, based in Kent, and our mission is to ensure that no-one need be hungry in Tunbridge Wells, South Tonbridge and the surrounding areas.  From small beginnings in 2012, we have grown in reach and volume, and we now provide around 120,000 meals a year. Operations are managed by a small team of employees and food is distributed by a dedicated group of volunteer packers and drivers from our warehouse in Tunbridge Wells.   Our current Treasurer is nearing the end of his term, and so we are looking for a new Treasurer to join our Board and help us meet the challenges of growing demand for our services, limited resources and a cost-of-living crisis. This is an opportunity to lead the financial management of a high-profile local charity, which provides vital food aid to people in need. You must be able to give around around one day a week of your time to the charity.

What are we looking for?

Qualifications Holding a recognised financial/accounting qualification Experience and knowledge Experience and knowledge of financial and accounting practices, relating to a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME). Experience of dealing with the Charity Commission and Companies House and of submitting statutory returns (desirable). Knowledge of the role of a Trustee in a charitable enterprise. Knowledge and experience of fundraising and submitting grant applications (desirable). Skills and abilities Ability to present financial information to the Board and to advise on fundraising and operational constraints and objectives. Ability to write clear and accurate financial reports and statements and report on complex issues. Ability to liaise effectively with Nourish trustees, employees and volunteers and other stakeholders in a confident, co-operative and diplomatic manner.  Excellent analytical and numerical skills. Other requirements Competency with everyday IT applications. Ability to travel to attend meetings and charity events in the Tunbridge Wells and South Tonbridge area and surrounding villages. Ability to devote time to Nourish Community Foodbank of approximately 1 day (about 8 hours) a week. Competency with accountancy / financial software applications (desirable).

What difference will you make?

This is an opportunity to lead the financial management of a high-profile local charity, which provides vital food aid to people in need, and help shape the future direction of the charity. You will get to work alongside our dedicated staff and volunteers and, through your sound financial management and forward planning, you will help to alleviate the effects of poverty among people in your local community.
