Role Summary:
- Manage and oversee methodologies for all Impact products.
- Lead a team of subject matter experts in impacts, product involvement, and biodiversity.
- Collaborate with research, product managers, and development teams for product maintenance and improvement.
- Supervise methodology documentation both internally and externally.
- Contribute to the development of new products and enhancements of existing ones.
Role Requirements:
- Minimum 7 years of relevant ESG, sustainability research, or finance experience.
- Master’s degree in a related field or Bachelor’s with equivalent experience.
- Deep knowledge of ESG investment approaches and financial markets.
- Experience with ESG and corporate data, as well as collaboration with data and software development teams.

As a critical position in the Product Excellence & Oversight Team, the Impact Product Excellence & Oversight Lead is responsible for maintaining and overseeing the methodologies for all existing and upcoming Impact products offered by Morningstar Sustainalytics. The leader will manage a team of subject matter experts in the field of impacts, product involvement and biodiversity.
This position requires close collaboration with research teams, product managers and product development teams to facilitate the continuous maintenance and improvement of research products. Beyond general methodology oversight and the review of outcomes from existing products, the Impact Product Excellence & Oversight Lead supervises the creation and publication of methodology-related internal and external documents.
Responsibilities include managing a team of 5-8 Impact subject matter experts, making critical decisions on Impact topics, working closely with leaders of the Research & Methodology Team to address any research and product deficiencies, and supervising the team’s participation in the development of new products and enhancements to existing products.
Qualifications include at least 7 years of relevant work experience, especially related to ESG, sustainability research and/or finance, a Master’s degree in related discipline or Bachelor’s degree with the equivalent, relevant experience, deep knowledge of ESG investment approaches/strong understanding of financial markets, products and research methodologies, and experience working with ESG and corporate data, data teams and software development teams.
