Role Summary:

  • Advance 350.org’s public engagement through exceptional design across web, branding, and social media.
  • Support and collaborate with the Senior Designer on design strategies and visual identity.
  • Work remotely with a team dedicated to making a tangible impact on climate change issues.

Role Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years in visual design, with a strong preference for web design experience.
  • Team player with excellent creative, problem-solving, and self-management skills.
  • Proficiency in design software like Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and Canva.
  • Experience with UI design, data visualization and/or motion graphics is a plus.
  • Background in working with multicultural teams, especially in a remote setting.

About the Design Specialist position

Reporting Line: Associate Director, Multimedia & Design 

Location: Anywhere in the world, this is a remote position (preference to candidates based in the south)

 The role of the Design Specialist is to utilize design experience to advance 350.org’s Public Engagement’ objectives and support regional and global visual content projects. The ideal candidate will be an experienced graphic designer with secure and swift design skills across a range of fields (web design, editorial design, branding, information design, digital & social media design). The Design Specialist supports the Senior Designer in producing design outputs either directly or through a network of practitioners.

Satisfying the role described above will require performing the following responsibilities:

  • Design strategy: 
    • Supports the Senior Designer in the development and implementation 350.org’s overarching design strategy
    • Support 350.org’s global visual identity and coordinate unique brand identities for global & regional projects. 
  • Design systems & process support: 
    • Collaborate with web developers to define and design websites, user flows, user interactions, UI elements, site pathways and navigation patterns to ensure user engagement, accessibility and inclusivity.
    • Support, educate and empower 350.org’s staff to be good visual communicators by providing them with basic training and resources.

Required Qualifications

  • At least two (2) years of relevant experience in visual design, preferably on web design
  • Excellent teamwork, creative thinking, problem solving and management skills
  • Ability to manage self and others with proven mentorship ability

Desired (but not required) skills and experiences

  • Proficient in design software (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign, Adobe Photoshop, Figma and Canva)
  • Strong portfolio of design projects on progressive issues or campaigns
  • Experience in user interface/UI element design 
  • Experience on data visualization and/or motion graphics is a plus
  • Experience working remotely
  • Experience working in nongovernmental organization or nonprofit sector
  • Professional experience in an international and/or multi-cultural environment
  • Experience and competency working in multicultural groups

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working both independently and in teams, highly responsive, and able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others. 

Position Type:  Full time, 100% FTE
