- Role Summary:
- Develop sophisticated web systems and enhance product functionality.

- Role Requirements:
- A minimum of 7 years of commercial experience in software engineering.
- Proficient in PHP8+, with a preference for experience in Symfony.
- Adept at object-oriented programming concepts and design patterns.
- Skilled in version control with Git and standard workflows.
- Experience with TDD and unit testing, with a proactive learning attitude.
- Desirable Skills:
- Computer Science degree or similar education preferred.
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Expertise in designing and building RESTful APIs.
- Proficiency with relational databases and *NIX command line.
- Experience in cross-functional teams and an understanding of user-centric design.

We are looking for a fully remote Backend Engineer that can contribute to the development of our web applications.
Who you are You’re a software engineer with at least 7 years commercial experience. You’re looking to develop your skills further as part of an in house team. You have a genuine enthusiasm for software engineering and take no greater pleasure than finding the right solution to the problem at hand. The idea of working in a successful startup in a fast paced role excites you.
What you will do Develop web based systems. Develop functionality for our own products, administration systems and ecommerce capabilities using modern frameworks. Develop and maintain integrations with third party systems. Develop our APIs. Work in a team environment. You’ll work with other software engineers, designers, QAs and product managers. You’ll communicate your ideas and plan your work. You’ll peer review your colleagues work.
Job requirements At least 7 years of commercial experience as a software engineer or equivalent. In-depth knowledge of PHP8+. Familiarity with modern PHP frameworks, preferably Symfony. Solid understanding of OO programming concepts and patterns. Familiarity with version control using Git and associated workflows. Experience with TDD and unit testing. A strong desire to learn and to contribute to the team’s work.
Other skills you might have A degree in CS or equivalent is a plus. Good understanding of HTML and CSS. Familiarity with modern JS frameworks. Experience designing and building RESTful APIs. Knowledge of relational databases. Comfortable on the command line of *NIX machines. Experience working in cross functional teams. An eye for user behaviour and design.
