The Wilts & Berks Canal Trust is committed to restoring the full length of the canal from Semington to the Thames at Abingdon.  We are looking for an enthusiastic Director of Marketing to lead our passionate team of volunteers.

What will you be doing?

Reporting to the CEO, your responsibilities will be:

Raising and maintaining the Trust’s public profile to support the delivery of its public benefit works in the restoration of the historic Wilts & Berks canal Management of the marketing activity within the Trust to meet the relevant objectives agreed by its Executive Board Leadership of a marketing team of able volunteers Keeping the CEO and fellow members of the Executive Board fully aware of marketing successes and challenges   The key task and activities include: Work with the CEO and fellow members of the Executive Board to help define and create an effective Marketing team to deliver the public awareness the Trust needs for its restoration plans Work with the CEO and the Executive Board to define the desired high level public profile needed to meet the Trust’s objectives Work with the Marketing team to establish a programme of public relations activity and internal communications publishing to underpin the Trust’s projects Liaise with the Trust’s chosen third-party media outlets to build a rolling story in the communities along our canal route to raise and maintain public awareness of the Trust’s work and objectives. Monitor progress against plans for Marketing and provide monthly written reports to the CEO and the Executive Board Participate in, and contribute to, the regular meetings of the Executive Board.

Skills and resources required:

Strong leadership and understanding of the need for consistent management processes Good understanding of marketing, Public Relations, and internal membership Communications Ability to manage a diverse team and liaise with many public and private stakeholder groups Ability to develop management structure, recruit teams and motivate capable volunteers Personal computing facilities including reliable internet access
