Power of Zero is a cutting-edge initiative that seeks an experienced writer to create insightful articles relating to children’s well-being in our technologically advanced world. We focus on issues such as screen time, digital literacy, online safety and mental health. By joining our team, you can expect to:

  • Write articles for our newsletter and blog
  • Edit our monthly Mailchimp newsletter
  • Research children, education, and the online world
  • Recommend new topics based on identified content gaps and audience needs
    The ideal candidate will have significant experience in article writing or journalism coupled with strong research abilities. Required skills include:
    • Proven work experience as an article writer, copywriter, or journalist
    • Portfolio of published articles
    • Experience with research using multiple sources
    • Excellent writing and editing skills in English
    • Hands-on experience with content management systems

What will you be doing?

We are seeking an experienced writer to craft insightful, engaging articles for parents and educators who care about the well-being of children in a digital world. You’ll be helping to shape important conversations about how technology is impacting childhood from screen time and digital literacy to online safety and mental health.   Our ideal candidate has experience as an article writer, copywriter, or journalist, with a strong ability to research the online world children are growing up in and translate that into clear, valuable, and compelling content.

What are we looking for?

Responsibilities:

Create articles for our newsletter and blog on our website – you can contribute at your own rate, whether 1 piece or 3 pieces a week, for example Learn how to edit of our monthly Mailchimp newsletter  Research sector-related topics in the field of children, education and the online world - combining online sources, interviews and studies Identify educator and parent needs and gaps in our content and recommend new topics Write clear marketing copy to promote our programs Proofread and edit article posts and newsletters before publication Submit work to editors for input and approval Coordinate with our other volunteers to illustrate articles and newsletters Conduct simple keyword research and use SEO guidelines to increase web traffic

Ensure consistency with our brand handbook (style, fonts, images and tone)  

Skills

Proven work experience as an article writer, copywriter, journalist or a similar role Portfolio of published articles Experience doing research using multiple sources Familiarity with web publications  Excellent writing and editing skills in English Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems Ability to meet deadlines

Beneficial skills BA in Marketing, English, Journalism or related field is advantageous, but not required.
