What will you be doing?

The Uganda School Project is a small international development charity, founded in 2016,  focusing on primary school educational development in rural Uganda. The objective of the charity is  to advance the education of children and young people in Uganda through the construction of educational facilities (e.g. classrooms), as well as capacity building programmes to improve the quality of educational delivery (e.g. teacher training programmes).   We are looking for someone with skills and experience in all things digital comms to create an engaging and compelling digital comms strategy for a matched funding campaign (The Big Give's Christmas Challenge).  This will help us reach a wider audience and ultimately expand the scope of our activities: more school construction and more educational capacity building in rural Uganda. Examples of work involved would be:

Digital Marketing Strategy and implementation for the campaign Telling written stories of the impact of our work on the communities we work with

Through social media and email campaigns

Video editing project - editing one longer video into smaller, compelling segments. Social media (malinly linked in) channel engagement and analytics Canva / designing Copywriting International Development knowledge - sensitivities to cultural differences/white-saviourism

We are looking for someone ‘hands-on’, with some time to spare for operational support in this area - approx 2-3 hours a week (but this is very flexible and can be discussed).  Sensitivity to the ethics of storytelling, imagery and use of language in the context of international development is essential.   Position would be 100% remote, with management meetings with the CEO taking place weekly. Successful candidates will receive the necessary  onboarding and ongoing support needed to carry out their role effectively. The role is voluntary but any out-of-pocket expenses will of course be reimbursed.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who has previous experience in:

Video editing Canva / designing Copywriting Newsletter drafting and analysis Social media management International Development knowledge - sensitivities to cultural differences/white-saviourism

What difference will you make?

Your support will help us engage, educate and motivate our existing and potential supporters and other stakeholders, helping us reach a wider audience and ultimately expand the scope of our activities: more school construction and more educational capacity building in rural Uganda.
