What will you be doing?

School of Sexuality Education is looking for a PR Adviser who will help the charity maintain and build its reputation as a leading voice in the UK for Relationships and Sex Education (RSE). The role would involve:

Champion and exemplify School of Sexuality Education’s values, mission and vision. Quickly gaining knowledge of School of Sexuality Education’s brand identity, as well as our educational programmes and other work. Working with the CEO and Trustees to build and manage a PR strategy for School of Sexuality Education. Assist and advise the CEO and Trustees when responding to incoming media enquiries. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with media representatives, and journalists. Provide guidance on pitching stories and securing media coverage. Help manage media coverage, prepare press releases, and support the team in responding to media inquiries effectively.

Advisors may also be invited to attend School of Sexuality Education events from time to time. We are looking for people to commit to 1-2 hours a week.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for people with an interest in education, particularly the transformative impact of inclusive Relationships and Sex Education. Skills and experience

At least 5 years’ experience within the PR field. Exceptional written communication and presentation skills - reflecting the charity’s professional integrity as well as its unembarrassable approach. An existing professional network within the UK media, and willingness to build new professional relationships within the RSE sector.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have gained PR experience within the charity and/or education sectors - though this is not a necessary prerequisite to applying. Our values and mission are important to us and we expect our team including Advisers to model our approach of inclusivity and passion for social justice. As a charity working with young people all team members must understand the importance of safeguarding children (training will also be provided).

What difference will you make?

Volunteers will play a key role in raising awareness of the charity's work, and help bust myths and taboos around sex, relationships, bodies, and health. As a PR adviser, your expertise will help us transform the narrative around RSE, and demonstrate the importance of inclusive education in empowering young people.
