What will you be doing?

About:  Demilitarise Education (dED_UCATION/dED) is a community and guide for modern day peacemakers, working to see universities break from the global arms trade and become champions for peace. We use research, media and community to further untangle, expose and end university partnerships with the military and defence sector, and see them focus their efforts on peace development.   About the opportunity:  You will be responsible for planning and implementing a design upgrade for the dED e-commerce shop on the TeeMill platform.    This opportunity is a remote and unpaid volunteer role. Oversight by dED’s Executive Director and support from other team members and volunteers provided. TeeMill support is also possible for anyone who is a UX designer who may not have used the specific TeeMill platform before.      

What are we looking for?

Person Specification  dED is looking for a proactive and knowledgeable volunteer with UX design experience who can dedicate up to 10 hours a month working alongside dED’s e-commerce volunteers to make design improvements to our Teemill shop. 

UX design experience essential  UX for E-commerce shops desirable

Knowledge/experience with SEO desirable  

Role Responsibilities You will be responsible for planning and implementing a design upgrade for the dED e-commerce shop on the TeeMill platform.    The resign should consider and solve:

Clarify the website's mission and purpose to visitors using an about us page and content rich blog. Develop an "About Us" page to provide background information and context for the organisation's mission. Utilise a blog to communicate the organisation's mission, values, and updates Enhance the design theme to create a more visually appealing website. Streamline product categories for easier navigation and a clearer shopping experience.

Incorporate basic SEO principles

You will directly contribute to helping dED meet it's goals as a nonprofit organisation, to aee every UK university break their ties with the arms trade and instead use their capacity (research & investments) to champion peace, rather than war. You will also have an impact on working to achieve fundraising and e-commerce goals.
