What will you be doing?
The ASO aims to develop an understanding of obesity through the pursuit of excellence in research and education, the facilitation of contact between individuals and organisations, and the promotion of action to prevent and treat obesity. We are looking for individuals with excellent leadership skills, good communication and interpersonal skills, experience in working on committees, the running of organisations and able to operate at a strategic level. We are particularly looking for people who have skills and experience in any of the following areas:
Legal Governance Digital technology and Social Media Strategic decision making Finance/ accounting
What are we looking for?
The Chair of the ASO Board of Trustees should have the following skills and experience:
Excellent leadership skills Good communication and interpersonal skills A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to the role and engage with and respond to ASO communications in a timely manner. Have a clear understanding of the Charity Commission guidance and recommendations. Experience in working on committees, the running of organisations and able to operate at a strategic level. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Strategic vision. Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of the role. Good, independent judgement to contribute to an open and inclusive culture, impartiality, fairness, and the ability to respect confidences. Willingness to speak their mind with tact and diplomacy and hear and consider the opinions of others.
