What will you be doing?

Overview  The Fédération Internationale de la Jeunesse, in English ‘International Youth Federation (IYF)’, is an international non-profit youth organization network governed by the present Statutes and the Swiss Civil Code. It is politically neutral, and non-denominational, aiming to empower youth worldwide. The IYF Department of Public Information (DPI) is responsible for developing and implementing the IYF Global Communications Strategy, strengthening support for the IYF by promoting key messages and strategies on priority youth issues, implementing global campaigns and coordinating communications and public information activities between headquarters, regional administrations and member counties.  The Director of Department of Public Information (DPI) is responsible for creating and implementing the IYF’s global communications strategy to ensure the work of the organization is responsibly, meaningfully and powerfully communicated to global audiences in multiple languages. He/she ensures DPI’s platforms, distribution tools and outreach capabilities are designed to have the strongest possible impact with the broadest possible audience.   Responsibilities  • Directs the IYF’s divisions of the Department of Public Information, which includes the Media & Communications Team, Language Services, and Global Marketing, and contribute to the overall management of the Department's activities and operations.  • Contributes to the formulation of the Department's overall strategies and policies by introducing innovative thinking, participating in various teams, preparing documents on policy issues, and acting, as required, in an advisory capacity to the USG/SG.  • Provides leadership on the planning, development and execution of communications strategies across platforms and using a range of tools, as well as on organizational restructuring and change management initiatives.  • Builds relationships and fosters interactions with partners to promote understanding of the IYF’s priorities and issues through the integration of communications messages and campaigns between headquarters and member countries.  • Plays a key role in Senior Management meetings; chairs meetings, seminars, etc., on substantive-related issues; works collaboratively with senior communications official across the organization and acts as its representative at international, regional, inter-agency meetings, seminars and conference.  

What are we looking for?

Eligibility  • Recognized leader in strategic communications and media, with excellent understanding of digital distribution channels.  • Experience in transforming teams, preferably international, and in bringing about meaningful reform.  • Experience in developing strategic media partnerships, and leading global campaigns. • Strong and persuasive public speaker. ' • Work experience in a multilateral organization or government institution would be desirable.  • High commitment to the values and guiding principles of the IYF.
