What will you be doing?
It is estimated that over 200,000 Filipinos live in the UK and the NHS recruitment of staff from the Philippines has probably increased that number. Volunteering can be an immensely rewarding activity, especially when you witness the incredible life transformation the charity offers some of the most impoverished children around Manila. Children of the Dump is seeking one or more individuals who have a passion for the mission of the charity and want to make a difference for the children in Manila. The Filipino relationship volunteer(s) role will
Identify organisations and individuals in the UK Filipino community Search for opportunities to introduce the work of Children of the Dump. Trustees are available to make presentations at such opportunities. Identify with networks in the UK Filipino organisations and communities, the fundraising strategies which may interest their members. Develop with help from the Board an appropriate fundraising programme for Filipino groups.
Maintain regular communication with the Filipino groups and seek to build the relationship with them including engaging in Children of the Dump appeals.

About the charity Children of the Dump is a UK based Children's Charity, registered as Asian Students Christian Trust. Through our Filipino partner organisation; The Asian Students Christian Foundation (ASCF), we deliver family support and loving care to deprived children living in extreme poverty around the Payatas and San Isidro rubbish dumps in Manila, Philippines. Since 1975 the supporters of Children of The Dump, along with colleagues in ASCF, have been giving young lives the chance to escape the cycle of poverty through education. Our services in Manila are: Cashew Tree Early Years School, Grapevine Scholarship Program and Mango Tree House Children's Home. The volunteer(s) would be supported by two existing Filipino Board members of the Charity
What difference will you make?
We are a small charity and as a volunteer you will soon be very familiar with the services we fund and the stories of individual children and families. Reports from staff in Manila will keep you up to date and enable you to inspire our UK based Filipino supporters in their fundraising. It can be a very motivating and satisfying experience. You will be welcome at our Board meetings and be a valued part of our team.
