We are looking for more Trustees to join our charity, and are particularly interested in hearing from those with Marketing or HR expertise. There's also the opportunity for an existing/new trustee to take over the Chair role this year too.

What will you be doing?
Our Maidenhead based charity was set up in 2015 to refurbish donated bikes in order to save bikes from landfill and to sell them at affordable prices to encourage more people to take up cycling locally. Last year our team of mechanics and volunteers refurbished over 600 bikes! We also provide advice and support for cycling with bike maintenance classes, local cycle rides and we have provided opportunities for bike apprenticeships, volunteering and work experience to help people gain employment. We are a friendly group of 7 trustees but we have 2 trustees who are looking to step down soon due to other commitments. One of our existing volunteers will be becoming a trustee and we are looking for one of two more people to join us. We aim to always have a good size group of trustees with a varied range of skills to help us continue managing the charity successfully and do all we can to support a strong interest in cycling in the RBWM area and deliver our charitable objectives. Our Trustee meetings are held approx 6 -10 times a year (every 6-8 weeks) to make key decisions, provide governance and ensure we pursue our charitable objectives correctly. Our trustee meetings typically take about 2 hours often on a Monday or Tuesday evening. We prefer to meet up in person locally in central Maidenhead when we can or we can hold our meetings virtually as required. We are looking for trustees who want to take an active part in our trustee strategic decision making so we can lead an effective charity, look after our shop and workshop staff and volunteer teams and ensure our on-going financial stability. We are seeking trustees who would like to contribute their general or specialist business skills and knowledge, common sense and creative ideas. Depending on personal skills and availablility, trustees can choose to take on specific tasks such as Marketing, HR, making funding applications, networking with local schools or businesses etc. An interest in cycling would be great but is not actually essential for the role of trustee.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking trustees who would like to contribute their general or specialist business skills and knowledge, common sense and creative ideas. Depending on personal skills and availablility, trustees can choose to take on specific tasks such as Marketing, HR, H&S compliance, making funding applications, networking with local schools or businesses etc. An interest in cycling would be great but is not actually essential for the role of trustee. Knowledge, skills and understanding:
Ideally looking for trustees with Marketing, HR or H&S compliance expertise A commitment to our charity’s aims and objectives, An ability to work effectively as a member of a small friendly team of charity volunteers, employees and fellow trustees.
What difference will you make?
Our new trustees bring fresh ideas and additional expertise and knowledge to our trustee meetings. This in turn is good for any charity to ensure good discussions and standards of governance. As we are a small charity our trustees often take the opportunity to volunteer when they can alongside the workshop or shop teams to meet everyone, see what we do and get a good appreciation of what is needed operationally to support and run the charity.
