What will you be doing?
As a Trustee you will share the responsibility for the governance of the incorporated Charity’s activities and the achievement of its charitable purposes in line with charity law. Trustees are required to attend the Trustee Board meetings once a quarter, central London. The Treasurer will be required to create and supply Excel spreadsheets with projections of costs and income to be included in the charity Business Planning. This is a very important function of the Treasures role. The minimum time commitment for this role is 2-4 hours per month.
What are we looking for?
The Treasurer is a Trustee of the Executive Committee specifically responsible for the financial aspects of the charity. Whist the charity is currently a small charity with under £30,000 worth of turnover, we are looking to significantly increase this in the future and we have recruited new Trustees with significant business development experience to spearhead our growth, therefore we need a suitable qualified person who can take on the role of being responsible for the charity finances. Currently all our accounts are very straight forward and are managed via Xero software which makes things very easy which we will continue to use, so its essential to have Xero experience. However in order to grow the charity we require a dedicated Treasurer with financial experience to take over the current Treasurer activities who is stepping down, and to oversee the financial governance and compliance of the charity accounts, this role would ideally suit a person able to fulfil the following activities.
Manage the accounts. Make entries into the accounting system where appropriate. Ensure that all entries are backed up with receipts and/or invoices Manage and reconcile the bank accounts and online account Manage bank account alternative users Make payments of expenses and/or supplier bills/invoices Ensure that the treasurer is an authorised signatory Create and manage Excel spreadsheets for projected income & developments - this is a very significant part of the role which will be used in our business plans.
Executive Committee Meetings Attend meetings to present prepared Treasurers report and answer financial questions. These are help one a quarter in Central London at our registered offices. What difference will you make?
As a Trustee you will contribute to the responsibility for the financial governance of the charities activities and the achievement of its charitable purposes in line with charity law. You will be helping us to provide access to quality clean clothes to people living in our county who struggle to do this for themselves, such as the homeless and vulnerable. These are some recent testimonials.
"As a social worker working in one of the most deprived London boroughs, and with some of the poorest members of society, Clothing Collective represents a lifeline. For those for whom a winter coat or a pair of gloves represents a luxury and not something that’s taken for granted, Clothing Collective can help bridge that gap and keep these families warm. And in doing so, its vouchers also help the charity shops that go on to do invaluable work in the community. Thank you so much for all your hard work, it is so appreciated". Southwark Children’s & Adult’s Services London
“Partnering with Clothing Collective is a huge help for the people referred to us in severe financial hardship. Having access to the clothes vouchers which can be redeemed at partner charity shops is a great help, protecting people's dignity in difficulty times - we really appreciate having these vouchers” Wandsworth Foodbank Manager
