Teach First is committed to building a fair education for all, unlocking the potential in all children. As a Junior UX/UCD Designer, you will be responsible for working with teams and digital services to ensure they are legible, accessible and work well for our users. You will understand how visual elements of a service come together to allow users to complete tasks and have some experience in either web development, graphic design or content design. You will be able to wireframe, prototype or sketch out appropriate layouts for a range of tasks, understanding how digital legibility and branding might affect the way a service behaves. You’ll work with other UX Designers, front end developers, architects and designers to ensure that consideration is given to Accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG).
You will participate in the agile development practises of our teams, working across the Teach First digital estate. We are looking for someone with experience in user interface design, web design or graphic design skills and knowledge. You should be able to show how different interface elements and tasks might need to change to accommodate different users and devices. You should have some knowledge about how to test services for accessibility and/or common problems that users experience with online services. You should have an awareness of prototyping (e.g. mock-ups) and could sketch out what a service, screen or tasks might look like. You should understand the importance of improving the digital experience for users and how changes to services can result in better uptake and customer satisfaction.
Teach First’s core benefits include 27 days holiday per annum (3 of which must be taken during the holiday shutdown period between Christmas Day and New Year's Day), participation in the pension scheme via Salary Exchange (with an employer contribution of up to 6%), life assurance, income protection and private healthcare. Through our flexible benefits platform access to subsidised dental membership, health screening, discounted gym membership, travel insurance, Give As You Earn and the option to buy annual leave.
