Lead the charge on marketing for The AdventuristsThe Equestrianists and Venturo Adventure Machines.

We’re looking for a legend who can switch their enormous brain between worlds with a brief raise of a single eyebrow and a sip of Earl Grey.

On any given day this person will:

- Craft an advert about the benefits of riding a totally unsuitable 50cc monkey bike across the Andes mountains and into the Amazon jungle. And why it’s a good thing the bike will definitely break down above the cloud line with nothing but angry llamas for miles in every direction.

- Write a story about that time a British team driving a taxi on the Mongol Rally got stranded in no man's land between Kazakhstan and Russia for six days and established the Autocratic Republic of Taxistan (complete with daily renditions of God Save the Queen).

- Investigate how and why we’re suddenly seeing a bunch of people sign up from Japan and Brazil. Then make a plan to recruit their friends, colleagues, neighbours and second cousins.

- Convince the world’s most adventurous equestrians that extensive chafing of the inner thigh area is a worthwhile price to pay for conquering the world’s longest and toughest horse races.

- Develop an emotional support programme for all the people who’ll be devastated by missing out on one of the limited places on our new adventure through Bhutan riding first edition electric Venturo motorbikes.

Our products range from rickshaw adventures across India to horse races in Mongolia and Argentina. And we’re building the next generation of miniature electric adventure machines.

Our demographic is connected only via a shared itch to wobble off the edge of the map and seek out a healthy dollop of chaos to combat the increasingly sanitised world of smartphone travel.

Their ages range from 18 to 78 and they come from more than 50 countries.

Our price range starts at £14 for a Mongol Rally mug and tops out at $17,000 per person for a spot on a horse race.

The impact our adventures have on people isn’t the usual brochure level guff…

Sometimes people cry at the finish line. They’re mostly happy tears, with one or two ‘thank-the gods-of-adventure-that’s-finally-over’ full-on blubs.

Customers who meet on the road have ended up getting married. Others quit their jobs after realising they can’t go back to their old life after experiencing the clarity of being lost and stuck in the middle of nowhere.

Our teams have raised millions of pounds for charity. They’re going to raise millions more.

Soon they’ll be pioneering new routes using electric rickshaws and monkey bikes. They’ll help us take a small but dignified protest poo on the current boundaries of EV adventuring as we thunder, silently, into a new dawn of electrified overland stupidity.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all marketing activities for The Adventurists, The Equestrianists and Venturo.
  • Refine the entire customer journey, removing obstacles and smoothing the way until it gleams with efficiency and moves folks along it like greased lightning.
  • Develop and execute digital cross channel strategy including organic and paid social, PPC advertising, email marketing, website content and more to drive awareness, consideration and conversion. Provide analytics and reporting on the results on a regular basis.
  • Move us quickly to a proactive stance in our marketing, putting us on the front foot. Our sales cycle begins 12-18 months in advance of adventure launch, so marketing plans must follow suit.
  • Create and manage the content calendar, working closely with the wider team to proactively focus efforts on adventures that have capacity.
  • Hands on posting on social media and website updates as required.
  • Create email marketing content and automations, using the CRM to target specific segments.
  • Gather data from (currently) disparate systems and draw insights to be converted into solid strategies.
  • Use scientific marketing experiments such as A/B testing and data analysis to drive better results.
  • Spring clean our systems and processes to facilitate growth from a solid footing. Within a budget, there’s a blank slate to build a marketing ecosystem of your own devising – a unique chance to build it right – rather than arriving into an established and immovable organisation.
  • Foreseeing the need for additional marketing resources, search, selection, onboarding, training.

If you can do all that it will help if you have...

  • A real interest and passion for what we do. We’d love it if you have done one of our adventures in the past – and we’re going to insist you do one if you haven’t.
  • Proactivity in spades. Kick-ass communication skills. Willingness to get your hands dirty.
  • Demonstrable experience developing marketing systems and processes. We’re in need of an upgrade, and we need to get to the right things first time.
  • Experience leveraging tight budgets to outsize results.
  • Good eye for quality content of all types plus the ability to write briefs that create it.
  • Skills in crafting (or guiding the craft of) copy that speaks with The Adventurists’ unique voice. It’s easy to get wrong, and this role needs to be able to catch it and correct it.
  • Skills to make quick changes to existing artwork. We don’t want this role to be a designer – that’s silly. But so is waiting hours for minor copy changes to a piece of artwork that needed to go out yesterday.
  • Analytical mental toolbox to decode past & predict future trends in our business & execute accordingly.
  • A passion for staying current. We’re looking for a person who scouts the digital realm, eager to discover and leverage the latest technologies and platforms to enhance our arsenal of tactics and strategies.
  • Any experience in the online retail field is a plus. We’re keen to get Adventurists, Equestrianists and Venturo merchandise into the hands of the waiting and eager masses.

What we offer:

  • Salary £50-60k dependant on experience
  • Remote with very occasional travel to Bristol, Chepstow or Brighton for face-to-face team meetings
  • We think it’s important the person in this role gets out and experiences our product first hand. Getting some rickshaw engine grease under your fingernails will be good for the soul. So there will be some occasional international travel to help crew the adventures and take part every now and again too. Likely to be far-flung and slightly odd locations.
  • Flexible working hours possible (around business needs)
  • Discounted adventures
