What will you be doing?
Children and War UK and our Norwegian partner Children and War Foundation have developed a number of manuals to help children at risk of long-term trauma. These manuals are available to trainees who have attended the Children and War training sessions. We strongly recommend users attend Children and War UK training if they want to use our manuals. Afterwards, they are welcome to cascade that training within your organisation. We are seeking Trainers who can deliver our in house tier 1 training to users. Our trainers need to have relevant clinical experience in order to ensure the accuracy and credibility of our training, to respond to particular training audiences and to be able to answer and adapt to questions and scenarios that our training audience may put forward. Our trainings usually take place over 2 days and are conducted virtually at present. There is a need for some preparation but the core manuals and documents remain unchanged from event to event; it is the audience and their questions that shift! You would be required to commit to both days of any training. You would be fully supported and mentored by experienced Children and War UK trainers.
What are we looking for?
We need trainers with either direct clinical experience or transferable experience relevant to the scenarios that our manuals were designed for: Trauma due to wars, disasters and other catastrophic events. Experience of training or teaching is desirable. Applicants must have empathy with our cause.
What difference will you make?
Our trauma recovery techniques have been used to help children in war-torn Ukraine, those affected by the Grenfell fire, survivors of the massive earthquake in Turkey and many others. Our trainers impart skills and knowledge that can, in some cases, reach and help hundreds of lives. This rewarding activity is critical to the overall impact of Children and War UK as a charity. You can find out more about the charity by visiting our website.
