What will you be doing?

About us We are a pioneering non-profit organization founded in 2021 out of the desire to promote intentional kindness and foster positive racial identity development in children and young people. Our charity's sole purpose is to advocate for kindness. We are focused on inspiring, educating, and empowering children and young adults to be kind to themselves (mental health), to others, to the environment, and extend our kindness framework to Africa.  What we are looking for We need someone who is proficient in using social media marketing (Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook) and communications to help us increase our reach in the local area and nationally. We aim to increase our engagement on all social media platforms, as a result of implementing a digital marketing strategy that will elevate the charity's profile. We are looking for people passionate about children’s education, mental health, well-being, and development. We are seeking a Communications professional who can create and manage our communications, social media, and marketing strategy. You will oversee the communications and media team and ensure their work aligns with the charity's purpose and objectives. Our aim as a charity is to create change and make an impact globally and our focus is on children and young adults. To achieve our goal, we need someone with demonstrable and practical experience in delivering transformational change, simplifying complex systems using digital means, and supporting our Comms team to develop our communications, social media, and engagement strategy across all channels to increase our profile and attract new funding sources.  You will work with the Board of Trustees and CEO to strengthen our ability to reach a broader range of potential funders; developing targeted messages about the work that we do with young families in order to maximize funding, make a huge impact, and have partnership opportunities. You will take the lead in developing our marketing and communications strategy, and creating and implementing the plan.  Our main ask is enthusiasm and commitment and to be a dedicated team member.

What are we looking for?

Main responsibilities

Strategy (developing our brand, communications, and marketing plans)  Provide thought leadership on the role of digital in fundraising, marketing, communications, and operations and help build and implement our vision. Take the lead in evaluating proposals for our children-led projects for the board and providing strategic oversight of the implementation of all projects and how they should be communicated. Content creation (blogs, articles, social media posts, and infographics)  Digital marketing (supporting in the creation and sending of digital comms)  Oversee Afrikindness charity in Communications and Media and represent it at the national or global level. Moderator/host of a few of our global events Social media (proactive content on all platforms including tiktok)  Contribute to the broader promotion of Afrikindess’s objects, aims, and reputation by applying his/her skills, expertise, knowledge, and contacts. Website (contents for website updates  Online fundraising tools (develop and support the creation of resources and tools to help raise funds)  Safeguard the name and reputation of the Charity and for ensuring the organization is digitally current and our delivery is great.

Skills

Digital Marketing & Communication professional and experience (including strategy design).  Ability to work as part of a team and willingness to take collective responsibility for the governance of our charity. Ability to work at a strategic level whilst understanding the detail and complexities of delivery, and the influencing skills needed to bring staff and stakeholders along with plans. Knowledge and experience in organic and paid marketing channels. Understanding of newer dynamics in the social media sphere (e.g Instagram algorithms, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok etc.), Copywriting, Media, Public Relations, and storytelling. Lived experience of the African education system would be very valuable but not essential Enthusiasm for our vision and mission. 

Your skills and experience will help us reach a wider audience and ultimately expand the scope of our activities: more impactful projects in the UK & Africa, representing at Media level, content creation for educational projects, etc.

You will have a key role in ensuring we can maintain the work that we do. You will be a part of our small, extremely friendly, passionate, and forward-thinking charity team. We facilitate children-led projects, provide content and educational resources that promote kindness and advocate for kindness by working with the government and Department of Education to incorporate it into the school curriculum. Our work extends to Africa, making a global impact within the educational sector. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to make a real and lasting difference to young people. You will help to design and implement our digital marketing strategy, increasing the reach of our communications (social media and email marketing) and fundraising through digital channels. You’ll help to create an educational marketing campaign. By supporting this campaign, you will be making a significant impact in the lives of children and young adults across the UK and Africa. Your work will support the mental, physical, emotional, and social well-being of children thereby reducing/eliminating the negative impacts of bullying, racism, isolation etc often experienced in schools. While we are unable to pay for your time, you will receive the flexibility to choose the volunteering hours that suit you and we can provide references for your great work if required. Are you a strong communicator willing and able to help the board understand digital?
