What will you be doing?
The Institute for Food, Brain and Behaviour, known as Think Through Nutrition, has been at the forefront of nutritional advocacy for more than 40 years. Our charity aims to significantly improve mental health and wellbeing by spearheading critical research into the link between nutrition and behaviour, and we translate our findings into practical solutions, benefiting individuals and communities by enhancing their understanding of how dietary habits impact mental health. Primarily supporting offenders, children and families within the social care system, and other disadvantaged or hard-to-reach groups, our research has then allowed us to develop and deliver comprehensive nutritional education programmes, which in turn acts as a catalyst for raising public awareness, shaping policy and improving life chances.
What are we looking for?
Skills, experience and qualities
At least three years experience in copywriting, ideally including case studies or similar long-form documents Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with an eye for detail and a heart for storytelling A demonstrable interest in improving life chances for our core beneficiary groups An ability to take complex information, and make it accessible to a broad range of audiences The ability to work independently and as part of a team
What difference will you make?
The volunteer copywriter will be fundamental in helping us to develop case studies to showcase our work to potential beneficiaries, funders, supporters and partners. Initially, this project will involve a single case study, covering our work with a perinatal service providing vulnerable women with mental health support, but if the work meets our objectives, we would like to extend this to develop documents for other projects. The development of the case study will include:
Reviewing documents relating to the delivery of the project, and crafting a compelling story around them Where appropriate, contacting participants to obtain feedback and testimonials on the impact of our project Presenting the information gathered in a way that is accessible to all of our stakeholders, but particularly those we engage with in a business development context
