- Utilize your creativity to design new game meta that enhances user engagement and satisfaction within the chess realm.
- Develop and refine game mechanics like player progression and economies, ensuring sustainable and enjoyable system designs.
- Translate your designs into reality by collaborating with a diverse team of artists, engineers, and other specialists.
- Iterate on game features based on player feedback, using analytics to refine the user experience.
- Stay abreast of industry trends to ensure modern and innovative system designs, all while honoring the timeless essence of chess.
- A minimum of 5 years in game design with a reputable gaming studio.
- At least 2 years of experience with a top 100 mobile game.
- A deep understanding of game design theory and principles.
- Proven track record in creating and optimizing game design systems.
- Experience with apps that have 10M+ active users is highly advantageous.
- A profound love for chess and a commitment to lifelong learning.

About You
You love the meta! You dream of how to engage, inspire, and motivate players to be their best. Your job is to preserve the greatness of chess while bolstering the experience with the fun elements that help motivate and engage players: leveling, progress systems, goals, achievements, etc.
What You’ll Do
- Design new meta around the game of chess to improve user delight and engagement
- Create, test, measure, and tune mechanics such as player progression and game economies
- Break gameplay design down into sustainable systems and articulate and document them
- Understand and work within system constraints to deliver engaging experience loops
- Work with artists, engineers, animators and audio experts to bring designs to life
- Constantly iterate on mechanics and systems based on user feedback and analytics
- Stay current on industry trends as it relates to modern system’s design
- Preserve and honor everything that makes chess awesome
Required Experience
- 5+ years of game design experience at a gaming studio / company
- 2+ years experience working on a top 100 mobile game
Preferred Skills
- Excellent knowledge of game design theory and principles
- Proven experience creating, implementing, and improving game design systems
- Experience building apps with 10M+ active users
- Deep love and respect for chess
- Lifelong learner
