What will you be doing?
At Hope for the Future, we believe in the power of democratic engagement in calling for action on climate change and the nature crisis. We do this by empowering local communities with the skills and tools they need to engage effectively with their MPs and other elected representatives. We have a proven record of effectively engaging MPs and other local politicians across party lines, leading to action both in Parliament, and at local level. As a Treasurer or Trustee with us, you'll play a pivotal role in leading our mission to foster collaboration between UK communities and politicians for a healthier planet. Hope for the Future, a dynamic climate communications charity, empowers citizens nationwide to build constructive relationships with policymakers, transcending divisive narratives which currently hinder progress. We’re looking for candidates who will not only bring a commitment to climate action, but also a finesse for accountability, sustainability, and regulatory compliance. Incoming trustees will receive a full induction, so if you’ve never been on a board before, don’t let that put you off applying. We’re seeking diverse expertise to enrich our board. We’re particularly looking for trustees with skills in finance, HR, fundraising and marketing, all of which will be invaluable in shaping our strategy and impact.
What are we looking for?
We’re particularly keen to find trustees with an established network in the climate and political sector, and with skills in the following areas: Legal and Human Resources Charity sector experience, including post-start-up organisational development Fundraising, including individuals and foundations In-depth understanding of political systems and processes in the UK Monitoring and evaluation / impact assessment Marketing and Communications expertise Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to supporting Hope for the Future Strategic vision Good, independent judgement Ability to think creatively Willingness to respectfully speak their mind within a group setting (ie Board meetings) Understanding and acceptance of (or willingness to learn) the legal duties and responsibilities of trusteeship Ability to work effectively as a member of a team Alignment with Hope For The Future’s values: purpose-driven, collaborative, compassionate, effective and committed to equality, diversity and inclusion Commitment to Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership
