In mobilisation towards this objective, Founders Factory has built a global Climate Tech platform to invest in transformational technologies across key industries and international hubs. 

We're launching two new global Accelerator programs in partnership with the Western Australian Government and global mining company, Rio Tinto. Through these programs we will fund over 72 startups over the next 3 years in areas including decarbonisation, mining tech, and nature-based solutions.

What you’ll do: 

Founders Factory is hiring for an Investor who can help source, invest in, and support 12 pre-seed and seed-stage startups a year across our Rio Tinto partnership focused on mining sustainability & decarbonisation, exploration, safety, nature and productivity. 

The role will require building international deal flow relationships with founders, angels, VCs, universities, and key startup hubs across the US, Canada and Europe. Good candidates should have outstanding people skills, resilience, deep empathy with founders and a high curiosity for technology and tech startups. Candidates should also have knowledge about climate, mining technologies and deep tech. Our goal is for Founders Factory to be the best platform for founders to start and grow their startups. We are looking for someone who shares that ambition and is passionate about finding and investing in founders in the climate and mining sectors.

Investing in Pre-seed/Seed startups:

Own the process for sourcing , diligencing, and investing in 12 mining-related companies a year, with a focus on nature, water, exploration, productivity, safety and decarbonisation Identify thematic areas of interest for investment across the mining sector by working with our partner, Rio Tinto, and staying on top of market changes. Source, assess and qualify early-stage ventures, technologies, and founding teams, conducting diligence and negotiating investment terms from startups all over the world Build upon Founders Factory’s existing network of climate VCs and angel investors globally and connect with key mining funds, universities and hubs.

What you’ll need:

Previous early-stage tech fund investing/angel investing experience is a must Knowledge or expertise across deep tech and climate tech with hardware expertise/ industrial knowledge is ideal Experience working with startups either as a founder, previous operating experience or in an accelerator Have a passion for tech, climate & deeptech and working closely with founders Ability to work with and align on the interest areas and strategies of our partners Ability to learn quickly about new sectors and topics, synthesising that information for better investment decisions Deals comfortably with the uncertainty of change and complex problems, effectively handles risk, and can make a decision with incomplete information Operates effectively, is calm under pressure, and productive in the face of adversity and uncertainty Have a strong bias for action and persists in accomplishing objectives despite setbacks  Able to understand the perspective of others and evaluate their own thinking whilst looking for feedback and continuously improve  Ability to work across geographies, time zones and multi-functional teams Located in US or Europe
