Role Overview

As the Head of Community at Hometree, you will spearhead the development and implementation of our community engagement strategy and an exciting events program for 2024. Our diverse community encompasses volunteers, supporters, neighbours, landowners, corporate partners, community groups, funding bodies, and other environmental NGOs. Your responsibilities will involve engaging and maintaining relationships with our wider community as well as coordinating events with local groups, nature connection sessions, volunteer initiatives, and both virtual and in-person gatherings. A core task within this role will be to lead an exciting engagement initiative with existing community groups, generously funded by Rethink Ireland’s Impact for Munster fund.

We seek an individual with a background in community work eager to contribute to a high-energy organisation with a forward-thinking team. Alternatively, we welcome candidates with expertise in customer relationship management seeking to pivot their skills into a new area.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in enhancing the accessibility and inclusivity of our projects and in delivering positive growth in our community engagement activities. 

Core Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the delivery of Homtree’s 2024 community outreach programme, working with a range of community groups based in Munster to facilitate nature connection, participation and environmental education. 
  • Expand our community outreach, enhancing volunteer experiences and designing innovative ways to engage with diverse communities.
  • Work with the Hometree team and an expert consultant to develop and implement Hometree’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy. 
  • Design and deliver a comprehensive communication strategy to effectively speak to the public, private landowners, and stakeholders

Essential Requirements

  • Leadership experience delivering community or customer engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and teams effectively.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with a track record of delivering projects on time and to a high standard.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging a diverse range of communities and stakeholders.
  • A passion for environmental conservation and a commitment to Hometree's mission.

Desirable Characteristics

  • Experience in community engagement, education and/or environmental work 
  • Background in marketing, communications or customer relationship management
  • Knowledge of environmental conservation practices and sustainability initiatives.
  • Ability to assess and improve impact measurement and management practices.
  • Creative thinking with the ability to design innovative engagement strategies.

A preference will be given to applicants who can regularly attend work at Hometree HQ, in Ennistymon Co. Clare.

Applicants must be eligible to work in Ireland.

Salary: €42,000 for 4 day working week

Probation period: 6 months

Initial contract duration: 12 months

Core work Hours: 9am - 5:30pm Monday-Thursday (flexible working will be required)

Location: Hometree HQ, Ennistymon (preferred)
