Role Summary:

  • Provide first-level IT support, ensuring effective problem resolution and communication.
  • Perform hands-on technical fixes, including software/hardware installation and system setup.
  • Respond to IT helpdesk requests efficiently.
  • Manage and maintain Mac and Windows devices.
  • Administer user accounts and access controls across platforms in compliance with security policies.
  • Keep accurate records of IT support activities and asset management.
  • Stay updated with IT trends to enhance system efficiency.

Role Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience in IT support with a strong problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-oriented approach.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Windows/Apple devices, Office 365, and networking fundamentals.
  • Potential experience with MDM systems, video conferencing platforms, and ITIL framework is a plus.

Your role in our team:

We are looking for an IT Support Technician to become the initial point of contact for internal users encountering IT issues, playing a pivotal role in ensuring the IT operations at bit.bio run smoothly and efficiently.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide first-level contact, conveying resolutions to user issues promptly, ensuring effective communication and swift resolution of all requests.
  • Undertake hands-on fixes, including software installation and upgrades, hardware installation, file backups configuration, and systems and applications setup.
  • Monitor and respond quickly and efficiently to requests received via the IT helpdesk.
  • Assist in the provisioning, setup, and maintenance of both Mac and Windows devices, ensuring their seamless integration and operation for our colleagues.
  • Manage user accounts and access controls across Google and Microsoft platforms, ensuring adherence to company policies and security.
  • Document internal procedures, maintaining a comprehensive record of all IT support activities and interactions.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues, referring to external vendors when necessary.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory records for all IT assets and software licences, ensuring accurate tracking and management.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of system documentation and IT knowledge base articles.
  • Remain abreast of the latest trends and technologies in IT support, suggesting ways to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in our IT processes.

You…

  • Will have a minimum Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Have experience of working in an IT Support role managing IT tickets and workflows.
  • Have excellent problem-solving abilities, capable of diagnosing and swiftly resolving technical issues.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient, customer-oriented approach to IT support.
  • Have the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment and to tight deadlines, coupled with a willingness to assist a varied stakeholder base.
  • Have a desire to learn and develop new skills.

With essential experience in…

  • Proficient familiarity with Google Workspace administration and troubleshooting.
  • Provisioning, configuring and troubleshooting Windows and Apple devices.
  • Microsoft environments, including Windows operating systems and Office 365.
  • A good understanding of networking fundamentals including WiFi.

And Possibly...

  • Experience with MDM systems such as Intune and Jamf.
  • Experience with video conferencing platforms like Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams and the relevant meeting room hardware.
  • An understanding of identity providers (standards and technologies like: SSO, SAML, SCIM).
  • Familiarity with the ITIL framework for service management.
