- Manage and develop the UK's extensive collection of modern and contemporary drawings dating from 1900 to the present.

- A degree in art history, history, or a related field and fluency in English.
- Reading knowledge of at least one European language.
- Minimum 5 years of curatorial experience with modern and contemporary drawings.
- Experience managing curatorial records and databases, and leading exhibitions.
The British Museum is looking for a Curator for Modern and Contemporary Drawings. This is a full-time, permanent role based in Bloomsbury, offering a competitive salary of £41,949 per annum.
The Role: As the curator, you will be responsible for the care and development of one of the UK’s largest and most comprehensive collections of drawings from the period 1900 to the present day. Your tasks will include developing this part of the collection, fund raising for acquisitions and related projects, devising exhibitions that highlight the Museum’s modern and contemporary graphic holdings and being a knowledgeable specialist and researcher in the field. You will also be expected to maintain, update and improve the on-line records of around 10,000 modern and contemporary drawings.
Job Requirements: You should have a degree in languages history of art, history or equivalent, fluent speaking and writing ability in English, reading knowledge of at least one foreign European language, and at least 5 years of museum curatorial experience related to some aspect of modern and contemporary drawings. Experience of managing curatorial records and database of modern and contemporary works on paper in a museum or gallery, and of being lead curator in an exhibition of modern and contemporary works on paper is also required.
