Role summary

  • As a Procurement Category Manager, you will be part of the Procurement team in the Finance department, working under the Head of Procurement.
  • This role is instrumental in guiding the Trust during its transformation phase by establishing a new centralised category management service delivery model.
  • You will partner with the Digital & Technology team to oversee all technology procurement needs of Wellcome.
  • Creating and deploying category strategy is an important part of your role, making you integral to the organisation's procurement operations.

Role requirements

  • We seek an individual with substantial private sector procurement experience who can consistently deliver high-quality projects.
  • The ideal candidate should understand Oracle P2P processes or possess a CIPS qualification.
  • You will develop comprehensive procurement strategies, manage supplier relations, and guide the full procurement process for key service contracts.

These challenges require the bold science we support, but they won't be solved by science alone.

The role: As a Procurement Category Manager, you will be part of the Procurement team under the Finance department, reporting to the Head of Procurement. This role is critical in guiding the organisation through a period of change and embedding a new centralised category management service delivery model. You will partner with the Digital & Technology team and deliver all technology procurement for Wellcome. You will play a critical role in creating and deploying category strategy into this area and delivering their ongoing procurement needs.

Job requirements: We are looking for someone with significant procurement experience in the private sector, capable of delivering high-quality projects within tight deadlines. Familiarity with Oracle P2P processes or a CIPS qualification is advantageous. The role involves developing and implementing comprehensive procurement strategies and systems, managing supplier relations, and leading the end-to-end procurement process for key service contracts.
