Role Requirements:

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and quality-focused mindset.

Job summary:

Are you passionate about leveraging technology to accelerate climate impact and drive organizational growth at South Pole? 

We are seeking a Specialist in Google AppSheet development to lead innovative solutions that enhance our operations and support our sustainability initiatives. 

In this role as Specialist in Google AppSheet Development, you will be instrumental in leveraging Google AppSheet to design and customize applications that align with South Pole's key business objectives. 

Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Technology within the broader Enterprise Technology team, you will play a critical role in developing and optimizing tailored solutions that enhance operational efficiency and contribute to South Pole's mission. 

Main responsibilities: 

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions using Google AppSheet that align with business requirements, ensuring scalability, robustness, security, maintainability, and an excellent user experience. 

Engage with various business teams to gather requirements and translate them into user stories, leveraging Google AppSheet to address key operational challenges and enhance efficiency. 

Support ongoing activities and larger transformational projects by developing and deploying custom Google AppSheet applications that streamline processes and optimize business workflows. 

Drive continuous improvement in the utilization of Google AppSheet solutions, exploring innovative features and functionalities to support transformative initiatives. 

Configure and customize Google AppSheet applications using automation tools, workflows, validation rules, and formulas to enhance functionality and meet specific business needs. 

Stay updated with the latest features and updates in Google AppSheet, analyzing new releases to guide strategic platform enhancements and optimizations. 

Develop technical design and implementation documents for Google AppSheet solutions, ensuring alignment with business requirements and technology standards. 

Collaborate effectively with technology teams to identify and address dependencies between Google AppSheet applications and other systems, ensuring seamless integration and solution alignment. Conduct thorough quality assurance (QA) testing of Google AppSheet applications before deployment, ensuring reliability, performance, and user satisfaction. 

Provide demos and training sessions to users of Google AppSheet applications, facilitating adoption and proficiency among stakeholders. 

Support the implementation of a user group model to promote the effective use and advocacy of Google AppSheet within the organization, fostering a community of empowered users and developers. 

Profile requirements: 

Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, providing a strong foundation in technical concepts and data management principles. 

3+ years of hands-on experience in utilizing Google AppSheet and other data management tools to develop robust solutions, particularly in areas related to data modeling, automation, and integration. Strong expertise in leveraging Google AppSheet for data-driven applications, with a focus on optimizing data workflows and ensuring data integrity. 

Proven experience in writing automated tests and implementing CI/CD pipelines to ensure the reliability and scalability of data-driven applications developed using Google AppSheet. 

Strong understanding of web security principles and best practices, ensuring data confidentiality, integrity, and availability within Google AppSheet applications. 

Diligent, reliable, and proactive mindset, with a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions that meet business objectives and adhere to best practices in data management. 

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, capable of identifying and resolving complex data-related issues within Google AppSheet applications. 

Strong desire and commitment to continually develop new skills and stay updated with emerging technologies that contribute to data management strategies and support organizational goals. 

Desired profile requirements: 

Practical experience in a start-up/scale-up environment. Experience with microservices architecture (e.g. Kubernetes). 

Experience with agile development methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
