Volunteer Workshop facilitator

What will you be doing?

Through a range of exercises, discussions, games, and role-playing, workshop participants learn to create and maintain an environment where five core conditions of non-violence can exist:

Improved self-awareness, leading to increased self-esteem; Enhanced communication skills, including listening skills and assertiveness; Greater cooperation readiness and willingness to trust others; Stronger sense of one’s own values; Enhanced conflict-diffusion and problem-solving skills to address tense situations peacefully when they arise.

Just like our participants, facilitators come from all walks of life, which contributes to the richness of the experience. Facilitators work in teams of three or more, each led by an experienced Lead. Successful facilitators enjoy interacting with different people, and get on with them easily. Face to face workshops take place in London, over a weekend, or online, once a week, for five weeks. 

What are we looking for?

You will have worked in the fields of education, social services, coaching, counselling or similar areas. Practitioners in law or the criminal justice system would also be considered. We are looking for volunteers with excellent people skills, which include good listening, patience and understanding. A good facilitator is a team player, who enjoys engaging with others and is comfortable taking the lead.

For people who struggle in these areas, the effect can be to transform their lives, and those around them. Through their helpful and supportive approach, AVP facilitators enable this change to take place. Each workshop is a community, and facilitators are the pillars the hold up the structure.
