  • Lead the advancement of public leisure facilities to become community-centric active wellbeing services.
  • Collaborate with local authorities and key stakeholders to align public leisure with community needs.
  • Utilize insights and data to inform policy development and investment decisions.
  • Manage operational contracts, frameworks, and capital projects with various partners.
  • Significant experience in the public leisure sector and relationship management with local authorities, leisure operators, and national partners.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex ideas effectively.
  • Proficiency in MS 365 Office and robust networking and influencing capabilities.

We are looking for a Development Manager in our Place Development Team who will focus on Public Leisure. A key element within our 10-year Strategy - Uniting the Movement is our commitment to work through Place, Creating Active Environments and supporting Public Leisure facilities to be more community focused and evolve to an active wellbeing service. Creating Active Environment’s provides places and spaces for people to be more active and build healthier active communities. Developing stronger, happier healthy communities and better places to live, by ensuring our built and natural environments and the connections in between are design or adapted around people, creating the opportunities to increase physical activity levels.

The role will encourage and advocate the future of public leisure approach with local authorities and key sector stakeholders to work collaboratively across the sector to support the development of an Active Wellbeing service which is better connected to community need and focused on addressing access and health inequalities through activity.

The successful candidate will have significant experience working in the public leisure sector, managing relationships, operational contracts, frameworks & capital projects with local authorities, leisure operator’s and national partners. Proven experience in relationship management with third parties, at a senior level, to realise mutually beneficial opportunities. Experience of using insight and data to inform decisions and shape policy or investment. Effective verbal and written communications skills including the ability to adapt communication style to different audiences and present complex messages in a compelling way. Good MS 365 Office skills. Developed networking and influencing skills and a proven ability to influence partner organisations.
