Sutton Community Farm is looking for a digital marketer to join our small and passionate team. This is a new role, and a great opportunity to join a thriving community enterprise with a clear business plan and a commitment to investing in our marketing and digital infrastructure.
If you have any questions about the role, please contact us (click Apply Now to find email and full details) - including if you would like to request any adjustments to the application process. We look forward to receiving your application!
The Role and Key Responsibilities
This is a new and important role in our team and you will be joining at an exciting time with the opportunity to define the scope of the role and set up new processes and tools. There is a gap in digital expertise within the team, so we are looking for someone with pre-existing knowledge, relevant experience and an entrepreneurial mindset who can keep up to date with industry trends using external sources. We are currently completing some work on understanding the target market and value proposition for our retail customers, so you will be able to use this to guide effective marketing.
- You will work directly with the team members responsible for content creation, farm events, direct sales and PR to deliver effective digital marketing campaigns, to raise the profile of the farm, tell our vibrant story, and crucially, acquire new customers.
- You will manage our social media accounts, and take ownership of coordinating our email marketing (working with our content creator to create effective content) and analyse performance to improve content engagement over time.
- You will bring expertise and take responsibility for other digital marketing tools such as google ads, google analytics and bring recommendations of other useful products, such as CRM systems that will help improve our marketing performance.
- You will need to use your limited budget and time efficiently to deliver increases in customer acquisition, retention and order frequency. We expect you to effectively use a wide range of tools, track relevant data and set up useful reporting. You will take an iterative approach, testing and learning as you go.
- You will contribute to improving our website and other digital infrastructure, working collaboratively with the content creation team to improve SEO rankings and optimise engagement on our website.
A note on our dynamic roles: Sutton Community Farm’s roles are defined to a certain extent, and our staff understand their key responsibilities and aims when they start. However, the shifting priorities of the farm and our small team demand flexibility, and we don’t want to restrict people by their title or their function. We regularly review the farm’s strategy, and give all staff the opportunity to shift to roles which align their skills and interests with the needs of the farm.

- Exceptional digital proficiency - comfortable using varied tools and platforms, with the desire and ability to learn new skills and understand new technologies to support our marketing efforts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills - to both communicate internally about your work, and to contribute to content creation
- A process oriented pragmatic approach and a practical problem solver with an eye for detail
- Flexible, with the ability to adjust plans to respond to emerging demands
- Able to work both independently and as part of a small interdependent team.
- A genuine interest in sustainable, ethical food and the mission of Sutton Community Farm
