As the Chargé des Questions Juridiques et du Contentieux, your task will be to ensure legal compliance, conduct investigations, and manage litigation in Burundi, assisting thousands of smallholder farmers.

Role Summary:

Role Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of professional legal experience as a lawyer, legal advisor, or auditor.
  • Bachelor's degree in law.
  • Fluency in French and English.
  • Passion for agricultural sector development.

One Acre Fund, founded in 2006, assists 5.5 million smallholder farmers to increase their farm productivity. Operating in nine countries, we provide quality agricultural products, tree seedlings, accessible credit, modern agricultural training, and a range of other agricultural services. On average, this model allows any farmer to increase their income and assets by more than 35% on the land they cultivate, while sustainably improving their resilience. This is made possible by our team of over 9,000 full-time employees from diverse backgrounds and professions.

The role: As a Chargé des Questions Juridiques et du Contentieux, you will ensure legal compliance, lead investigations, and manage litigation for One Acre Fund in Burundi. You will advise HR and leadership on legal risks while supporting our mission to protect and empower thousands of smallholder farmers.

Job requirements: We are looking for an exceptional professional with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in the legal field as a lawyer, legal advisor, or auditor, and a passion for the development of the agricultural sector. A Bachelor's degree in law is required. Fluency in French and English is necessary.

Responsibilities include advising on disciplinary measures and fraud case management, coordinating and evaluating the work of external lawyers in defense of wrongful dismissal cases and civil judgments, and leading large-scale investigations into major fraud or serious misconduct.
