As the Health, Safety & Security (HSS) Associate, your role is pivotal in ensuring staff safety and security in every aspect of our operations within the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Role Summary:
- Design, implement, and improve health, safety, and security systems for the DRC program.
- Act as the primary technical authority and advisor to country leadership on safety and security matters.
Role Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., ASP, CSP, NEBOSH, HSE etc) are a bonus.
- 5+ years of experience in health, safety, and security management, preferably in NGO contexts.
- Experience in high-risk environments.
- Fluency in French; proficiency in English

The Role: As the Health, Safety & Security (HSS) Associate, you will lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of all health, safety, and security systems for our DRC program. This role is crucial for ensuring staff safety and security across office, warehouse, and field operations in a complex and volatile risk environment. You will serve as the primary technical authority and key advisor to country leadership on staff safety and security topics. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract with the option to renew based on business terms.
Job Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Occupational Health & Safety, Risk Management, International Relations, or a related field. - Relevant professional certifications (e.g., ASP, CSP, NEBOSH, HSE etc) are a strong advantage. - 5+ years of progressive experience in health, safety, and/or security management, preferably in Humanitarian, development, or international NGO contexts. - Experience working in conflict-affected or high-risk environments is a strong advantage. - Fluency in French required; English proficiency strongly preferred. Local languages are an asset.
