Join a unique company that combines the excitement of working in a high-growth tech startup with the fulfilment of creating life-changing social impact

At Beam, you get to do work that really matters. We’re solving the world’s toughest social problems. And we’re growing fast 🚀

About the role

We’re looking for a Pathway Associate to play a critical role in helping disadvantaged people transform their lives.

You’ll be joining a team of values-driven and creative caseworkers and will be directly responsible for ensuring that people referred to Beam - our ‘Members’ - have a great first experience and are quickly set up with the support they need to transform their lives.

As a passionate communicator with impeccable organisational skills, this role will enable you to make a real difference to hundreds of lives

You’ll be

  • The first point of contact for prospective Beam members - managing our "triage" process, contacting people by phone and text to explain how Beam’s service works, and skilfully navigating any queries that might come up.

  • Managing a smooth onboarding process - assessing what support members need, collecting documents (such as ID), completing references with other services and more.

  • Maintaining excitement around the Beam support journey - getting members highly engaged in and excited by their upcoming Beam journey such that an increasing number fully engage throughout their support.

  • Keeping our partners informed - crafting and sharing insightful updates for our government partners, Beam account managers and caseworkers so everyone is in the loop.

  • Writing engaging campaigns - learn about the inspiring stories of our members and help craft them into written campaigns for our online crowdfunding pages.

  • Providing crucial, longer-term support - you’ll organise regular check-ins to ensure members who have started work or found stable housing are able to sustain these positive outcomes.

You are

  • An energetic people person - you’ll thoroughly enjoy speaking to people and building relationships. Members will always have their ups and downs but you’ll find a way to support them into starting their journey with Beam.

  • An adaptable and engaging communicator - you’ll be great at improvising during tricky phone calls and have strong written communication to ensure all members can easily access the right support tailored to their needs.

  • Compassionate and resilient - some of our members have been through very challenging times and you'll need high levels of resilience and empathy to navigate more sensitive topics.

  • A confident multitasker - managing a large number of inquiries and different questions comes as second nature to you, and you thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Emotionally mature and confident - you’ll need to set boundaries and be adept at composing yourself in difficult or sensitive scenarios.

  • A team player who loves a challenge - you’ll be collaborating closely with a tight-knit team of caseworkers to enable Beam to support more members

Success looks like

  • Maximising engagement and excitement of members as they begin their intensive support plan with a Beam caseworker

  • Owning the member triage process for your team and developing new ways of working to allow members to move through triage more quickly

  • Positive feedback and sentiment from both our members and government referral partners with regard to the beginning of our Beam support journey
