Set up by Rosie Bensley, a horse trainer/ equine specialist, and Dr Jemma Hockley, our Lead Clinical Psychologist, Strength & Learning Through Horses (SLTH) provides life changing mental health and alternative education services for young people aged 5-25. Since founding the charity more than 10 years ago, the team has grown and evolved to meet the changing needs of the young people we serve.

Providing mental health and education support to some of London’s most vulnerable young people through equine assisted therapy and alternative education programmes from our North London base (High Barnet), we are already one of the largest equine therapy charities in the UK and have big ambitions to continue to grow. We are seeking a Marketing Specialist to join the team on a 2 days a week (15 hours per week) contract to help us shout about the brilliant work we do in order to meet our key objectives: to grow our service to help as many young people in crisis as possible.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about our cause, who is self-motivated but a fantastic team player, with excellent contacts, communication skills and experience.

  • Diversify our income streams to include income from corporate and private donations

·        Position ourselves as a thought- leader in the field of equine-assisted therapy and learning, and cement reputation as a leader to launch professional training offer in Q4 2024.

·        Increase the number of bookings made by schools and Local Authorities to expand our reach to 450 young people this year.

·        Increase our profile so we’re front of mind within the equestrian community to gain more support from the industry, brands, events and private donations.

  • This will involve:
  • Creating marketing materials to promote our work to key stakeholders including:
  • Young People (potential and current service users)
  • Referring organisations (schools, local authorities, NHS, local charities)
  • Funders: Grant funders, private donors and corporate donors
  • Working closely with our social media manager and communications advisor to plan, co-ordinate and implement effective marketing and communications that align across our channels and reinforce the SLTH brand
  • This will range from strategic planning and setting the long-term direction for reaching our key audiences effectively, to fine tuning our marketing assets, finessing messages or signing off image choices for newsletters
  • Be the key lynchpin in the co-ordination of SLTH’s external communications in all forms – whether that touches on fundraising, newsletters, events, press appearances…
  • Research and identify networking, speaking events and opportunities for the CEOs; the team & yourself to attend, to build our network and enhance our profile.

Corporate Partnerships

  • Research and successfully secure new long-term relationships with corporate donors whose company values align with ours. This includes marketing Corporate Team Building Days and Corporate Sponsorship Packages to generate an income stream from corporate donations.

  • A self-starter, someone who takes initiative and has boundless energy to get out there and help us grow
  • An excellent communicator who can convey the brand story in person, in meetings, at events and across our marketing
  • Knowledge of the equestrian industry would be beneficial but is not essential
  • You’re great at getting brands and high-value donors on board with causes like ours, and an instinct for how to communicate and build brands
  • Accomplished at both taking a strategic overview across marketing and communications but also care about the details of wording and timing of the small elements, like what time a social media post goes out
  • Have a good eye for brand identity
  • Working remotely is your cup of tea, but you also have the flexibility and ability to attend team meet-ups/co-working days in Barnet, North London
  • Have a track record in working in a marketing, and/ or partnership development or business development role

  • The opportunity to showcase your creativity and make a difference
  • The opportunity to work with a friendly, flexible team of highly knowledgeable people who are passionate about the charity and its work
  • Flexible working – work round the school pick-up, after your evening swim or you’ve walked the dog – you decide.
  • Generous holiday allowance
  • Contributing to tackling youth mental health crisis – with a great team
  • Basic salary in the region of £35k pro rata (based on experience), plus commission on income from corporate donations.
