About the role: This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role at the British Museum and help shape its future. As Head of Finance, you will lead and develop a team delivering a professional and commercial finance service that fully supports the strategic and operational priorities of the Museum. You will manage the Museum’s budgets and forecasts and analyse and report on activity with a view to ensuring an appropriate balance between delivering core Museum objectives, income generation, and risk management. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies and policies, and the maintenance of financial controls and compliance across the Museum group.

Key areas of responsibility: Leading, motivating, managing and developing the Finance department Manage the Museum’s budgeting and forecasting, and analyse and report on activity Responsible for maintenance of financial controls and compliance across the Museum group.

About you: You will be a strong communicator with excellent judgement and an analytical and creative approach. You will have a passion for the Museums and Galleries and/or Charity sector and will be able to manage conflicting demands and prioritise workload effectively. Educated to degree level, you will be a qualified ACA accountant with experience of a senior managerial role.

Additional details: We offer a flexible way of working that allows our employees to work remotely in a way that suits them and the organisation. We welcome questions and conversations at interview stage about how flexible working could work for you. We would typically expect the post holder to work on site 2-3 days per week. The Museum adheres to the HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) for pre-employment screening of Civil Servants.
