Role Summary:

  • Drive the revenue generation for TEDx programs, meeting or surpassing annual financial goals.
  • Be the main liaison for TEDx's revenue-focused initiatives, collaborating with leadership and external partners.
  • Develop and pursue innovative strategies to boost revenue.
  • Engage with foundations, donors, and corporations to create new sales leads.
  • Provide regular updates on the progress of revenue programs.
  • Support the expansion of the TEDx Business program.
  • Manage existing partnerships to ensure satisfaction and successful campaigns.
  • Help produce materials that highlight the TEDx platform's impact.

Role Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of postgraduate experience in a relevant field.
  • Successful track record in grant writing and research.
  • Detailed knowledge of funding opportunities and donor requirements.
  • Self-motivated with a meticulous approach to project management.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, suited for various stakeholders.
  • Outstanding writing and public speaking abilities.
  • Proficiency in Mac OS, Google Docs, and online research. Design skills in Adobe and Keynote are a plus.

TEDx is growing. Created in the spirit of TED’s overall mission to discover and promote “ideas worth spreading,” the TEDx program licenses and supports TEDx events around the world that are organized independently by community volunteers in over 140 countries. The team works with leading companies, foundations, and individual donors to drive revenue for the TEDx program.

TED is seeking a Global Development Manager on our TEDx team to generate, manage and support global partnership development for the TEDx program. The role oversees all aspects of revenue-generating programs. A passion for TED’s mission and a broad interest in the world – including business trends, social impact strategies, and current affairs – are critical. Candidates should find joy in storytelling, efficiency, and quality, should be comfortable working in a startup-like environment, and execute their job with integrity as well as a sense of humor.

RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee all revenue-generating TEDx programs, ensuring annual revenue targets are met or exceeded Reach agreed sales target Primary point of contact regarding TEDx revenue-generating programs for TED and TEDx leadership, the TED Partnerships team, and external TEDx partners Identify and implement new revenue generating strategies and opportunities, working closely with involved TED and TEDx teams Target foundations, private donors and corporate partners to generate new sales leads Regularly update TEDx leadership on status of revenue programs and pipeline Support the TED@Work team with the growth and development of the TEDx Business program Account manage current corporate and foundation partnerships ensuring customer satisfaction and flawless activations and campaigns Support the creation and development of materials that speak to the power and purpose of the TEDx platform

Qualifications Minimum 5 years of postgraduate work experience in relevant field Proven track record in grant writing and research Strong research capabilities to identify relevant funding opportunities and understand donor requirements Familiarity with grant application processes, guidelines, and reporting structures Self-starter Attention to detail Ability to create, maintain and deliver on project timelines, budgets, and contracts for a team Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with TED volunteers, foundation partners, and c-suite executives while being able to update TED leadership when necessary Excellent writing skills, comfortable in many formats and with many audiences Excellent public speaking skills, comfortable presenting and representing the TEDx program Proficient in Mac OS, Google Docs and online research tools. Design experience with Adobe and Keynote a plus.
