Company Overview
Latitude Trade Company (LTC) is a rapidly growing social enterprise in Uganda sourcing specialty cacao for export and producing bean to bar chocolate at origin. Working with over 7,000 certified organic smallholder farmers, our mission is to sustainably increase incomes and reduce risk for our suppliers while positively impacting the community and environment surrounding our operations. We aim to provide chocolate makers and consumers in East Africa and around the world with the highest quality, transparently sourced and fully traceable Ugandan cocoa products.
Job Description
The Sourcing Intern position is a full-time position based in-country at Latitude field offices reporting directly to the Managing Director. The core responsibilities may include:
● Support implementation and reporting of farmer sustainability and grant programs
● Coordinate business and sustainability reporting to investors, donors, and customers
● Training LTC staff and supporting with capacity building, computer skills, professionalism, and work planning
● Support and improve capital raise activities and implementation of financial management systems
● Develop and oversee implementation of LTC support programs for farmers which may include:
o Farmer payment digitization and financial inclusion
o Expansion of farmer microloans program
o Development of Agroforestry & Carbon Credits program
o Yield improvement and crop diversification amongst
● Establishment of Latitude regenerative agroforestry demo farms in key sourcing regions
● Support implementation of USDA and EU Organic Certification programs
● Contribute to expansion of farmer network and processing centers
● Work with local community members to navigate supply chain issues
● Support general operations and organization all goals

Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree from university in related field
● Prior experience in finance or accounting (desired)
● Strong Microsoft Skills and data organization skills
● Strong communication and organization skills
● Fluent spoken and written English
● Humble, positive attitude and willingness to work across cultures and learn on the job
