  • Role Summary:
    • Support statutory audit processes, coordinating with auditors for seamless financial statement preparation.
    • Engage in comprehensive accounting duties including period close, management reporting, and balance sheet reconciliation.
    • Contribute to a transition phase in the finance team with a 6-12 month fixed term contract, embracing remote work with occasional travel to the Thornhill office.
  • Role Requirements:
    • Qualified accountant with a minimum of two years post-qualification experience.
    • Proven experience in audit participation and UK statutory financial statement preparation under FRS102.
    • Effective communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
    • Desirable: UK charity financial statement expertise and experience with ERP financial systems.

Salary: Up to £60k (Dependent on Experience)

As a result, the nature of HALO’s programming is diversifying to increase the impact we have in the context of these global challenges.

About the role:

The accountant will support HALO through the statutory audit of its financial statements, coordinating and liaising with the auditors and preparing high quality financial information to support the audit requirements.  The accountant will also support the wider accounting requirements of the organisation in areas such as period close, management reporting, and balance sheet reconciliation as required.

This is a fixed term contract for 6-12 months to support the finance team during a period of transition.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparation of audit schedules and reconciliations.
  • Coordinate the compiling of data for submission to the auditors, escalating any delays or issues.
  • Support the monitoring and completion of audit requests and submission to auditors, using the audit firm’s information management portal.
  • Support with any audit adjustments and the preparation of the final financial statements.
  • Other accounting support tasks as may be required, such as reconciliation and review to support the team with month end close.

  • Work within the framework of HALO’s core values, promoting its ethos and mission statement.
  • Work towards achieving programme and/or group business plan objectives.
  • Ensure familiarity with and adhere to all HALO policies and procedures and keep informed of HALO activities.
  • To discharge duties and responsibilities under HALO’s Health and Safety Procedures which may include Risk and COSHH Assessments and participation in evacuation procedures as necessary.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Must be a qualified accountant.
  • Minimum of two years post qualification experience.
  • Experience of significant participation in the audit process.
  • Experience with preparation of UK statutory financial statements under FRS102.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • Experience with preparation of UK charity financial statements under FRS102 and Charity SORP.
  • Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) financial systems.
