Role Summary:

As the Head of Engineering at Vizibl, you will spearhead our product and engineering team's efforts, driving the development and delivery of groundbreaking procuretech and sustainability software products. This role is vital in nurturing an environment of technical innovation and excellence, ensuring our solutions exceed client expectations and contribute significantly to sustainable and ethical supply chains. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be instrumental in strategic decision-making, technology selection, and optimising processes, all within a 100% remote working setup.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Team Management: Lead, mentor, and grow our product and engineering team of 12 professionals, cultivating a culture of high performance, innovation, and continuous learning, regardless of geographic locations.
• Strategic Planning: Work closely with senior management to develop and execute engineering strategies that align with Vizibl's mission, driving sustainable and responsible procurement.
• Product Development: Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from ideation to deployment, ensuring projects are completed with excellence, on time, and within budget, including hands-on development where necessary.
• Technology Oversight: Make critical decisions regarding technology and architecture, optimising product performance and reliability with Google Cloud Platform services and other enabling technologies.
• Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain the highest standards for code quality, review processes, and automated testing to ensure exceptional software delivery.
• Operational Excellence: Streamline engineering processes and operations for efficiency and effectiveness, incorporating agile methodologies and CI/CD practices tailored for a remote workforce.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the main conduit for communication between the engineering team and other stakeholders, ensuring cohesive product development and customer success strategies.
• Innovation and Research: Stay ahead of trends in cloud computing, SaaS, AI/ ML, procuretech, and sustainability to propel product innovation and secure a competitive edge.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or management role within the tech or SaaS space, ideally with B2B software application experience.
• Strong grasp of software development methodologies, architecture patterns, and best practices.
• Proven expertise with Google Cloud Platform infrastructure and services using Kubernetes.
• Strong programming skills, particularly in Python, and experience in integrating complex systems via APIs.
• Comprehensive knowledge of information security standards, including deep technical understanding of ISO27001, and ability to oversee and implement security practices across the team.
• Familiarity with broader business practices and regulatory frameworks, such as R&D tax credits in the UK, and how they impact engineering and product development.
• Experienced in leading remote or distributed teams and implementing agile development processes.
• Outstanding communication, leadership, and strategic thinking skills.
